WordPress Advice And Free Support Session

wordpress-spoter-help.gifContinuing with my popular Free WordPress Support column this post will provide you with a chance to ask me a question and get answers.

While I’m continuing to look for a format most beneficial to my readers I welcome your questions and only hope I can address issue you are having with your WordPress blog and perhaps help other people who run into similar issue…

Just a few guidelines, as always…

  • I will do my best to address your problem and if possible will address it in form of comment.
  • If problem requires more extensive research I will address it in separate blog post.
  • I will not do any theme customizations here – this is an issue for designer, which I’m not…

So, please do ask away… I only ask that you review previous posts in this series to make sure it hasn’t been answered already:

Check your style.css and make sure that path to images specified is correct. Those images are defined in css but 2 things have to be in place: your path to images need to be correct in css and images have to exist.

I notice that on your blog you have 1 level of tags under your post with that price tag sign before. Is that because you do NOT put tags below the post when you write…or do you use that line too…how exactly are you getting your tags to look so nice and neat? I’m getting a duplicate layer.

    Cheryl,

I feel like I’ve talking to you all day :D

Anyway to your questions: Check your blog configuration under Admin->Tags->Options

Am willing to bet you have “Automatically display tags list into post content:” enabled under “Tags for Current Post”. Your theme already has those hard coded. And to make them neat, I use limited number of tags.

On other things, you already have one of them and for second – you can play around with single.php and add whatever you like :)

Well…that’s true…so aren’t you glad we BOTH have smiles in our pictures.

I think I lost all my hair today…but I’m still smiling.

Thanks Alex…you are such a tremendous resource. In fact, I’m adding you to my valuable resources links (blogroll whatever) on my page. I’ll be blogging about you, too ;)

    Thanks for responding Alex.

We’re still debating the upgrade. Would 2.5.1 let me include the image in the rss?

    • TheSpot-er (971 comments.) says:

      John,

As I have mentioned – I have no clue why you are having issue. It is hard to say exactly what will happen. You can look at my RSS feed and you will see that images included. It is possible that one of your plugins actually responcible for the problem … but that is something you will have to determine by method of elimination: disable plugin – test feed, until you find one that creates an issue or verify that NONE does. Then it is possible you have issue in the core and upgrade just might solve your issue…

I’ll try that. Thanks again very much.

    Hello,

I know absolutely nothing about editing HTML I am trying to make build a site using a theme and I am getting a message that says that my theme is not widget aware. I was told that i need to craete a functions.php file as my first step and I don’t know how to do that.

    • TheSpot-er (971 comments.) says:

      Mosaka,

I recommend you get a new theme. To make a theme widget aware requires coding on your part: php, html and css files will need to be modified and unless you know exactly what you are doing – it is not an easy task.

My recommendation – get a new theme.
      Alex

  12. TheSpot-er (971 comments.) says:

Well, I’m no theme designer but if css looks good, images are there the only other suggestion I can make – download theme again, and upload ONLY images into appropriate folder. I have seen sometimes that images get corrupted somehow and are not displayed properly.

If that fails – I can only recommend contacting theme developer for help and with bug report.

    Alex
