I am using the excellent WP-CSM Post Control pluin over at http://wp-cms.com/our-wordpress-plugins/post-control-plugin/ - it not only allows you to turn off post revisions, but also Autosave and change the Flash uploader back to the standard HTML uploader.

In addition to this you can also control every aspect of the write post/page panel, allowing you to hide rarely used items like trackbacks/pingbacks... highly recommended and has a nice control panel to control this - so no need to edit code to control these features!

You might want to try this plugin CMS Post Control to turn the post revision function off and on plus some.

KokPangs last blog post..When Social Networking Gets Out Of Hand…

i think the reason people think that this is annoying is that most blogs are ran by a single person and therefore the feature is moot. But it takes such a front stage position in our new post page.

I could see the benefit of the revision system on a blog with multiple authors, or blog with editors that approve a story before publishing. But maybe there should be a visible option to toggle off the revision system for the rest of us.

I did notice Wordpress was whining about an autosaved post that was newer than a post I just published the other day. I was confused what its problem was since it never complained before.

It let me compare the two posts, then told me both were identical but continued to ask me if I wanted to use the newer copy. I'll probably just turn of the revision to prevent future annoyances.

Robs last blog post..Not All Bears are Cute and Cuddly
