Thanks for the advice. Those couple of bug fixes don't effect me though so I'll wait for the next upgrade as I have quite a few WP sites. 'Don't fix it if it ain't broken' as they say. I do agree with keeping on top of upgrades though for the security benefits.

It's getting exciting as the version numbers get close to 3.0!
Wordpress is so young, but its constant development means it ages fast.
Do upgrade, but it's worth remembering to back up your database, always! Upgrades can affect plugins as well, so if it worked for some or most people, it doesn't necessarily mean it will go smooth for everyone and a good backup saves a lot of tears.

I also am always weary about the amount of upgrades for WP and if I should or not but I have upgraded to the new version...
PS to all, I highly recommend the install that EWP provides as security is one of the biggest issues with a WP blog, one of my affiliate buddys had almost 100 wp installations hacked and deleted, just because it was on a very old (2.1 I think) WP installation ...

Hi Alex,

I have been a good girl and done my upgrade! :)

The one thing I do want to learn is how to actually install a blog manually. IE not through fantastico. Do you have a how to on that one?

Hope all is going well. See you back here soon! :)

A great info on the decision to upgrade or not. As i have a problem with upgrading it automatically(from 2.9.1 to 2.9.2). So i dig out for a solution to upgrade it manually and i found out that my fantastico showed my wp is still in 2.8.2 version and instruct me to upgrade it to 2.8.6. But in the past i already upgrade my wp using the automatic upgrade feature from 2.8.2 to 2.9.1, the question is do i need to upgrade my wp at the fantatisco too? and why dont my fantastico wont automatically upgrade together like in my wp(at the tools panel)?
thanx

I upgraded last night and now I am having trouble getting my site at http://www.infobonanza.com to load. Sometimes it will; sometimes it won't. This affects every page, not just the dashboard although I first noticed it while trying to edit a post.

I don't know for sure whether the problem was caused by the upgrade, but I am not having issues with any of my other sites loading and they are all on the same hosting account. InfoBonanza is the only one I have updated to 2.9.2.

Kathleen,

Are you sure it is the WordPress? Have you tried Default theme? Perhaps it is the coding in your custom themes that are not up to the standard, it does happen sometimes.

I have been having problems, especially formatting problems on certain themes, ever since I converted to 2.9.

However, since I can't really go back to 2.8.6, I've been converting the 2.9 blogs to 2.9.2 and do not see any difference.

I dread new WP versions now, though, because of the problems caused by 2.9.
