Get Traffic Or Get Fired

Quite literally!
Funny things are discovered while browsing the blogosphere and here is what I found on Seth Godin blog:
According to The New York Times “Web Traffic (or Lack of) May Be a Reason for a Columnist’s Dismissal“
I don’t really know how much of that is true and have no clue who the reporter is but I found it quite education from perspective on how important Web Traffic has become. People possibly loosing jobs as direct result of producing information that is No Longer Relevant!
Politics aside, as I have no intentions to discuss them on my blog – I think it serves as a lesson. A lesson for every blogger to
- stay current
- stay relevant
- stay strong
…or be fired! Literally or by through the means of the slow decline makes no difference.
I know how hard it is to find relevant information to write about and sometimes even the time to write it but if you want for your blog to succeed – it is one of the things that you have to get done – Get Traffic or Get Fired!

When companies start focusing on TARGETED traffic, then I’ll be impressed.

It would be impressive Barbara but I think with corporations it might never come to light. So they too entrenched into stupidity of the regulations, guidelines and all the rest of the crap that makes them inefficient.
Absolutely true.
Whether you are fired directly by your company, or indirectly by your customers, you have to give them what you want.
Blogging, newspapers, journalism is prone to people leaving as a store is to people not buying. If people’s needs are not met, they go to somewhere where they are, plain and simple.
Look at where the market is going and evolve with them. Just as in the wild (and in business), it’s the survival of the fittest.

Yeah, but can you imagine if you evolve BEFORE the rest of the market?
that would be something, huh? as long as it is not too early
This is funny, but sad most Americans are in the same boat unemployed

To be honest I’m not really surprised. If you are hired to attract visitor and brings no traffic, is he really doing his job then?
It’s a hard word, but if we see it from the employers point of view it’s a natural thing to do.

I know that a domain name appraisal is an estimate about the potential sales price of a particular Internet domain name. Domain name appraisals are highly speculative. It is an estimate and an opinion, and can considerably vary depending upon the considered elements of the name and its extension. Traffic to and revenue from a web is not relevant to a domain, but to the web content. It is a common mistake to take web traffic and revenue into calculation of a domain.
It makes perfect sense. Traffic in this case is a rating of the quality of his writings. I am pretty sure there it was more than that when they decided to fire that guy. We all get fired in a way or another if we fail. From affiliate marketing to boring office jobs.
