The other guest posts I've done, are because I've been invited. :) I'd say go for blogs within your niche, that are fairly well trafficked and it can make an impact. Yes, you can definitely write about hot topics, what I mean by unique is putting your own style and spin on a piece, so it's not just re-hashed junk. :) Definitely go with the flow and write in a way that reflects your own personality. @Madeline...
