5 Reasons Why People Failed In Affiliate Marketing

Have you found yourself being discouraged because of your failed attempts at affiliate marketing within the past? It’s very easy to understand that you probably don’t stand a chance when it come to online marketing because there’s only a few that actually succeed. In this article we are going to provide some insight on 5 reasons on why people failed in affiliate marketing.

1. Most people fail at affiliate marketing because they don’t simply understand the power of testing various offers.

To be honest, it doesn’t matter how great you think the offer is or the potential profits it can bring. If you don’t do your due diligence and start testing plenty of available products out there, you won’t know which one will bring the highest conversions and revenue. Testing out offers is very simple to do, all you would need to accomplish is switching out the products within a particular promotion of the same audience, and compare the results. Make sure you allow an ample amount of people and time in order to gain exposure to the promotion, and you’ll get better results that way. Your main goal is to figure out which offer will not only have high conversion, but also bring in more profit. Spend time by doing a bit of research to see which is the best fit for you.

2. Most people don’t succeed at affiliate marketing because they don’t have a solid strategy in place.

If you plan on being successful at anything, you’re going to need a gameplan that will lead the way. Developing an overall strategy that suits your goal is key, or else you’ll be sidetracked in performing useless activities. There are plenty of people that fail at affiliate marketing because when one strategy doesn’t work out, they automatically throw in the towel. Your goal and plans have to be realistic, and don’t fool yourself thinking that you’ll achieve a six figure income within a 3 month period. All of this can be avoided if you decide to stick with a plan, and commit to your goal until it’s finally achieved. If you don’t see the results that you’d hope for, then it’s obvious that you need to switch up strategies until you find something that works.

3. Most people fail at affiliate marketing because they don’t set specific action steps for their goals.

Being able to adopt a strategy in place for your affiliate marketing efforts isn’t enough, you must know the exact steps as well. A good amount of soon to be affiliate marketers fail because they have no clue on how to get started. Mapping out specific action steps for your goal is an absolute necessity if you are to stand a chance within this industry. Keep things simple by writing them out, and keeping a schedule of all your action steps. You’ll be surprised on just how effective this small piece of advice will be for your business.

4. Most people find themselves failing at affiliate marketing because they aren’t motivated.

When you’re pursuing any type of business venture, your mindset and mentality will either spring you towards success, or be your worst enemy. Most business owners have an incredible ability to see failure as an opportunity for growth. If you start looking in a more positive light, you’ll understand that everything you do is a learning experience.

5. Most people drop out of affiliate marketing because of information overload.

If your an experienced online marketer, you’ll soon realize that the opportunities to make money is endless. It seems like there are new products or software that spring into existence every minute, and it’s very easy to get caught up in the hype. Don’t ever waste your time on things that sound too good to be true, such as a click button software that will make you a millionaire overnight. Affiliate marketing is a real business, and mastering the fundamentals is key towards success. Stick with something that works, and stop pursuing the next big fad.

It’s very true that most people don’t succeed at affiliate marketing because they don’t have a solid strategy in place. Great post.

I’d say laziness is the number 1 reason for people being not successful in affiliate marketing. If they don’t make money right away, they stop doing it. I bet you could promise people, that they’d make let’s say a hundred bucks a day with their site, if they would spend 30 minutes every day working on it, writing content, building links etc. for 5 years, and still 90% would quit doing it!

Great point, again planning seems to be what most people can’t do effectively and that’s why they fail.

Nice post.At the beginning it’s a little bit difficult to test various offers and products because you may have only one merchant but I still agree with you.Keyword tolls are also needed if someone wants to test some products or topics in general. But as you say, these are parts of a good preparation which is necessary for someone in order to succeed.

I wholeheartedly agree with the first point above. In my experience, you simply CANNOT rely on just a couple of guides (regardless of the promises those guides might make, like being all-encompassing, comprehensive, and the only guides you’ll ever need). One probably would need to invest his or her time and money into multiple guides and offers. Get information from multiple sources. And use a combination of all, pick the best stuff from all of them and combine that to come up with a winning formula!

Points 2 and 3 are the hardest, IMO. I remember when I started out, I was basically wandering aimlessly. Determining a strategy and setting actions can be difficult, particularly for someone starting out in this field.

  6. Very good points here Alex, yes people really need to plan out exactly what they are going to do otherwise coming across an unpredicted scenario will result in failure.

Alex, these are all great reasons why people fail at affiliate marketing. Perhaps, we might want to add “Most people fail at affiliate marketing because the rewards are not immediate.” I have succeeded with affiliate marketing by sticking to it. It takes time to reach a mass audience.

    Thx for the article,
