Don’t Be Hating

… That phrase from “Malibu’s Most Wanted” movie that was released in US a few years ago keeps on coming to my mind when I see a mindless expression of spite, hate… I don’t know what else to call it…

I Get It! You Don’t Like Me!

That message is my response to the person who paid my blog a visit and managed to express his or her feeling in the only way they seen appropriate and probably hoped “anonymous”…

Sorry to disappoint you but nothing on the web is anonymous, all our actions are tracked and it doesn’t require a genius to get the details. If you have something to say - I provide a place for comments and I appreciate the feedback with constructive criticism. I understand it requires actually reading the articles but hey, that is why they were posted there…

I provide an option to easily vote on every article on my blog with 1 to 5 stars and I greatly appreciate when people use it and actually vote as it helps me determine which of my posts ranked better by my readers and provide more of similar content. This is two way process - you let me know what you like and don’t like and I monitor and do my best to provide more of what you liked.

But NOBODY can read 9 of my posts in a span of 2 minutes to vote them all 1 star!

Have a look below at what my ratings stats show (I did hide part of the IP of the person who did it as I DO respect people’s privacy) :

I could never understand people who slide into actions appropriate for a child. You don’t like the party - fine! but don’t try to piss in the flower pot to make the host feel bad and hoping nobody will see it.

Don’t Be Hating!

I use stats of the rating to create more of the content that people liked and messing it up out of spite will not be accepted.

I could not agree with you more my friend, the disturbing trend that is going on in many of the online writing sites has become very bias. In the last several months I started to read many blogger thoughts and began to see that there are alternative ways to promote your work-but indeed it is a lot of work. I am beginning to see the evidence of my hard work-your article rings true on on many social issues that surround the online communities in general, thanks for writing this informative piece. When you have time check this out:

    Alex,

You’re right on! I am actually in the process of writing a review of W2.0W to post to my blog and to article directories. Anyone who thinks any of your posts are 1s hasn’t read them. There is ALWAYs food for thought if there is nothing else and even if I disagree.

Even this post taught me to look at my stats with an eye towards their believability. I think if I had just seen the bad marks, I would have thrown up my hands in frustration. Seeing that they were all given in less than two minutes to several posts would have tempered that reaction.

I hope you banned the jerk’s IP address.

    Thanks Jerry,

I appreciate the feedback. And no, the person came from an IP that belongs to one of the broadband networks and not static. It might have prevented him coming back for a while but then someone else would get it.

I don’t appreciate the action but have no intentions to banish someone else in process. There will always be people like that…

Another great post, Alex. You’re one of the few marketers I enjoy. Keep it up. ;-)
