3 Reasons For A Blogger To Use Google Buzz

There has been a lot of buzz for lack of a better word about Google Buzz. Sorry for the play on words but I could not resist ;-) . Why as a blogger should you care and is it worth dealing with a new learning curve?

After all there are numerous ways to get blog traffic and build readership is this worth the effort?

Here are 3 reasons why you should take the time and effort to add Google Buzz to your arsenal.

  • Connect your content easily
  • Build stronger relationships
  • Take advantage of Google Social Search

Lets start with connecting your content.

It is easy to have your content such as blog posts, new videos, podcasts or articles added to your Buzz page automatically. Any extra way to get people involved in your content is a big plus. When you can do it automatically it is even better.

Buzz allows you to comment, mark items you like which makes it easy to interact with others. It allows you to get to know, like and trust others which will lead to much stronger relationships.

Finally the most important reason to use Buzz is the new Google Social Search. Now this is only shown to those that are logged in to Gmail but as more people get involved with Buzz that will be more common.

Here it shows on the first page of any search two items from those that you follow on the topic of that search. This allows your appropriate content to show on the first page of Google no matter how tough the competition is.

Now currently it is showing at the bottom of the first page but if Google follows past patterns and moves this to mid page like it has with news and videos this can become a powerful traffic generator.

The downside is it will only show for those that follow you but that makes it even more important for you to spend some time and effort using Buzz especially if you are dealing in any high competition keyword areas.

So there are 3 reasons to start using and taking advantage of the power of Buzz today. You can find out more about using Buzz in my free report “Quickly And Easily Get More From Google Buzz“.

I got into google buzz as soon As I saw the launch video, but find out its not that easy to understand, maybe because is like a Twitter + Facebook on steroids, But you are right it could help a lot in their social search, I will definitely start using it.

Since we are discussing Google Buzz here don’t you think it would be a good idea to add links to your Google profiles so we all could follow you if we so desired?

It seems kind odd to host a Buzz article and not link to your Buzz pages. So chime in and show us your Buzz.

      Thanks Chris,

This is guest post so I lef the content intact :-)

That’s a good point, thanks for taking my comment as real and not a spammer move.

I was able to find your Buzz / Google profile in search so it was easy to find you. Like you I find Buzz to be much more useful and personal than Twitter and Facebook.

Thought it would be Google Wave that would arise as Google’s social platform but it seems Google Wave was too much for most.

Glad to see Buzz getting use and support from guys like you!

        • TheSpotter says:

Thanks Chris :-) Luckily, I know about you although we never meet, so your comment was safe.

On Buzz – I like the personality to it right now, still working to learn more. But seem to more like what FriendFeed used to be. We will see how it goes when it really grows :-) but I can assume that since your following attached to your email – people should be less likely to spam.

I may try it out as soon as they smarten up and offer it to non-gmail users also.

Not gonna happen. It’s not dependent on Gmail, it is dependent on a Google log in. Just like Twitter is dependent on a Twitter log in and Facebook is dependent on a Facebook login.

Just like Facebook messaging comes with the Facebook messaging platform, Gmail is Google’s. No different. No more. No less.

It is up to you if you want to use Gmail. If you don’t want to use Gmail then don’t. But Buzz has little to do with Gmail except that is where notifications of the Buzz posts you follow appear.

If you use email off a domain or ISP you can get your Gmail Buzz alerts in Outlook or any email client. Don’t trust the bloggers that write hype, try it out for yourself.

      • TheSpotter says:

        Thanks Chris,

I haven’t looked into it deep enough, its tied to my gmail right now and does what I like. I’ll investigate additional features of the service a bit later when I have the time to dedicate to it.

      • Chris Lang says:

Oh yeah, I want to suggest this idea too: I am not a Gmail user. I run my business off my domain based email. But I send all my social notifications to my Gmail address and it is public too.

That way I can get what matters to my business email and all social notifications in my Gmail address. You get more done this way too, I only go social when I have time away from making a living and my prime contacts.

Not to mention with a Google account you get a Google profile. It appears top 10 in Google search for the name used and I think of that as my business card. Easy to find me, easy to find my social profiles and websites. Real slick, something that should not be overlooked either. Hope this helps either way…

There are so many new social bookmarking/blogging sites available it’s hard to keep up but I do love the idea of your content appearing on Google’s first page. It just requires a lot of effort to keep it maintained.
