WordPress 2.7 Released, What Is Your Action Plan?

WordPress 2.7 was released last night, quietly as always and I was going to write this post but was simply too tired after been up for nearly 20 hours. This is a much awaited version and as someone who played with it since its early alpha I can also tell you that it was well worth the wait. WordPress 2.7 brings not only visual enhancement to Admin interface but also functionality improvements that excite me personally the most! But there is one thing you should know:

WordPress 2.7 Is Not A Security Update!

And while I recommend you bring your blog to this version, you have some time to do the proper planning to ensure smooth migration to new design and functionality. This post is here to help you!

WordPress 2.5 RC1 is Out But Hold Your Horses

As of few hours ago WordPress Development team has announced the release of WordPress 2.5 RC1. Meaning that even they don’t consider this release 100% ready for production and want to test the waters with as wide audience as possible.

You should take same precautions because in my test – WordPress 2.5 RC1 is not ready to take the space on my production blogs. I have discovered that couple of the plugins that my blog heavily relies on are not compatible with new version.

WordPress 2.3.1 Update, What You Need To Know

Almost a month since initial release we have finally received a long expected bug fix update. But looks like WordPress 2.3.1 addressing more then just a few bugs but also a security issue. While that security problem only impacts people whose host still have register_globals enabled (shouldn’t be too many) it is still worth updating.

There is much already written on the topic and but one of the best ways to learn is to hit one of the sources. Peter provides all the details on what is been addressed in this release and reading through his blog it appears that at least some of the enhancements slated for 2.4 release made it in here as well.

WordPress 2.3 Upgrade, Gaining New Without Losing Old Functionality

I have taken a leap and performed an upgrade of my blog to WordPress 2.3. I wish I could say everything was rosy but unfortunately it wasn’t so. Even with proper preparation and investigation and research there were several things worth noting.

This post is to provide my personal account and perhaps help other people overcome lost functionality due to UTW being discontinued as well as few other things.
