WordPress 2.7 Released, What Is Your Action Plan?

WordPress 2.7 was released last night, quietly as always and I was going to write this post but was simply too tired after been up for nearly 20 hours. This is a much awaited version and as someone who played with it since its early alpha I can also tell you that it was well worth the wait. WordPress 2.7 brings not only visual enhancement to Admin interface but also functionality improvements that excite me personally the most! But there is one thing you should know:

WordPress 2.7 Is Not A Security Update!

And while I recommend you bring your blog to this version, you have some time to do the proper planning to ensure smooth migration to new design and functionality. This post is here to help you!

WordPress 2.6.5 Update

There are a few things in this life we can count on and WordPress Upgrades and taxes are among the top few I personally don’t look forward to…

But jokes aside I think its great that Development team releases security patches and updates even though WordPress 2.7 is not far off from final release. Simply have to recognize those guys for their dedication to helping us keep our blogs secure. WordPress 2.6.5 while being a security update will not apply to everyone but to be on safe side – it is better to upgrade and in this post I want to discuss 2 methods I have personally tested: Automatic Upgrade and Incremental Upgrade (files provided)

WordPress 2.6.3 Upgrade Guide

WordPress 2.5, Things You Must Know

WordPress 2.5 have been officially released a few days ago and this is the first time I provide my personal take on it and sharing things You Must Know before doing the upgrade!

I have to admit – the core blog functionality is great. It takes some time to get used to new interface and has One Big Issue with Media Upload (which I’ll explain how to fix in this article) but overall I can actually see that it is faster, better and performs like a champ! Early releases usually have issues and bugs and this one wasn’t an exception :) . Hint: Anytime you decide to try a new plugin that updates database or modifies tables – be 100% sure you have a good backup or you will get burned! But looks like Keith (author) was able to act on reports from early adopters and address the issues, so it is time to let you know about it.
