WordPress 2.3 to 2.3.1 Incremental Upgrade

WordPress 2.3.1 is released and unfortunately this time (again, I should mention) they didn’t provide a path to incremental upgrade of existing WordPress 2.3 blogs. While I understand their unwillingness to do so to avoid support nightmare it really has no reason.

I have created a package with ONLY the changed files between WordPress 2.3 and WordPress 2.3.1 and have fully tested successful implementation on 2 of my live blogs.

Structuring Your WordPress Blog For Success

Introduction of native tags system in [tag-tec]WordPress 2.3[/tag-tec] generated a storm of questions from many bloggers. In fact this is one of the most useful features outside of faster java processing that made me upgrade to new version.

This new feature helps every blogger to properly structure the blog for success and make content more accessible and searchable. But that is assuming you have a clear understanding on HOW you need to build your blog from ground up and possibly redesign it armed with proper knowledge.

WordPress 2.3 Upgrade, Gaining New Without Losing Old Functionality

I have taken a leap and performed an upgrade of my blog to WordPress 2.3. I wish I could say everything was rosy but unfortunately it wasn’t so. Even with proper preparation and investigation and research there were several things worth noting.

This post is to provide my personal account and perhaps help other people overcome lost functionality due to UTW being discontinued as well as few other things.
