If you are a regular reader of my blog perhaps you have noticed that once again I have been slightly absent from regular posting, to say the least! And while I hope Monika provides you with enough information to digest and act upon I wanted to provide a quick explanation…

While I can’t provide full details just yet… for multiple reasons, I had to work over last month on checking, configuring, testing and now migrating bulk of my sites, blogs and business sites to a new host that would allow me create a more controlled, stable and easily expandable environment.

Major Destruction To Our Business

If you are a frequent reader of my blog or one of my customers perhaps you have noticed that since Monday afternoon till about 4 PM yesterday most of my “known” and business associated sites we not accessible.

Reason for this is simple – my DNS registrar screwed up big time by misunderstanding my request and making changes on my account, which due to other technical issues they experience I was unable to undo. This one mistake resulted in over 12 hours outage to my business sites! And as result of this one I have a lessons learned I want to share…

Howto Move WordPress To New Host

In this post i want to share a details on how to move WordPress to new host, Hostgator in this specific case, with 0 down time. Information provided is based on my recent personal experience of relocating my WordPress blog from Site5 hosting account to Hostgator and ensuring that I had no outage period and yet was able to verify that entire process worked without a glitch.

There are several steps to this process and each requires verification to ensure that everything will function properly but once you get them all right – you will ensure that your visitors will not be impacted during your move and if you rely on your blog as income source, I think it is very important. Move To Hostgator Completed

This is more of an internal note then anything else and my quick apologies to anyone who has a different experience while accessing my blog. This morning I started and now just about completed move of this blog to my hostgator account.

I got to so fed up with increasingly poor support and stability from Site5 hosting aver the period of last 2-3 month that I’m moving everything off of their servers. I have also removed this hosting from the list of my recommendations. Don’t take me wrong – they USED TO have one of the best options available and what you get for your money is probably still the best but their support is gone to sh*t.

So there you have it – an explanation on why you might have seen a few glitches this morning …
