Freedom of speech defined in US Constitution means nothing to some corporations who find that it is easier to get a blogger silenced by a threat of lawsuit. Even if they have to follow through with that frivolous lawsuit - it is a drop in the bucket from them, which a HUGE financial burden for 99.9% of the bloggers!
If you think it will never apply to you - think again! Anytime you write an article and share your opinion you are painting a target on your own back and it is only a matter if anyone willing to hit it or not. But time might come when they will! Learn how you can help fellow blogger who is in this position right now!
WordPress 2.6.2 is made available couple hours and you need to decide if upgrade is right for you or even needed. I do have to mention that it contains not only bug fixes but also addresses a security issue that is common to many PHP applications.
Reading through the issues addressed as described on developers blog - I’m safe to wait with upgrade until I have a bit more time as I don’t allow open registration and my PHP is compiled with latest Suhosin. If you are not sure about yours - perhaps you should upgrade.
I love how WordPress can be changed or modified by simply adding a small piece of code… but if you have been reading my blog for a while, it’s not a news to you . WordPress plugins are what make it possible and as long as author willing to support those plugins and continue to develop them as the core evolves - they can greatly enhance your blog functionality.
