I’ve done this twice in the last 2 months - setup a brand new .info website with Wordpress, added all of the on-page optimization bells & whistles and use Autopinger & Onlywire exclusively for each new post. After about 10 posts each I’m receiving 20-40 uniques per day to the blogs (20 on one, 40 on the other). Most of the traffic comes from Google, though I’ve had a couple of Yahoo referrals as well. Not great, but considering this is natural traffic within 3 weeks with a time investment of about 5 minutes total spent per blog in the actual “marketing” - it’s not bad at all. Now, I confess that I’ve been playing the game for a while, I know how to pick niches & keywords that’ll get traffic - that probably plays a role as well.

To be frank: I’m not in any way saying that article marketing is dead, though the mainstream method is much less effective than it was a few years ago. The SEM game is constantly changing, and even though link building can have a significant effect on a website’s ranking, if we want to stay ahead of the game we have to look beyond what has worked so well in the past because there may come a day when it won’t work at all… Now, the service you’re referencing above looks to be a breakoff from mainstream article marketing, and that may work better than what the masses currently use en masse, but my point here is that I think that social bookmarking is catering to search engines and thus indirectly to the user.

Social marketing and all else is good but do not ignore the search engines. Just think about what you do when you need to find an answer to your question….

Do you go to social sites and start searching there or..
Do you actually go to Google or Yahoo and type your question?

I know I love the traffic provided via Web 2.0 means but my blog is also gets about 50% of the traffic from multiple search engines. They don’;t have to be exclusive from each other.

Have you watched the video? I know they added squeeze page but go to thier main domain URL and watch the video.

However, I’ve found that blogging coupled with social bookmarking and an effective pinging service is sufficient to grab traffic from search engines. Now, I know that article marketing can help enhance the effects, but if you have the right topic using the right keywords… you can experience a great deal of free traffic to your blog without any additional effort.

I greatly appreciate the vote of confidence but I do know my own limitations. Perhaps i used a strong words but I’m not a Jack London and I know it

Also as many more pople become aware of the dupe content issue - surely they will not republish your article anyhow?

Having said that I notice some of my articles on ezinearticles.com do now have some PR - how good this is I do not know.
