I get a bunch of emails everyday about Vince Tan’s firesale. Once I see a promotion I’m not interested in being heavily promoted I set up a delete filter to catch any future mailings.

Maybe I miss somethings that might of been worth reading, but thats a price I’ll pay to save time on email reading.

You don’t have to feel anything for me – if you don’t like my message, exercise your ability to never receive it by making one simple click. This post was created to avoid getting into shooting match over the email. I realize I will lose some people who feel same was as you do – people who actually interested in message itself will remain.

I never expect everyone to agree with me – I just want to be clear on why I do things the way I do.

This is how your subject line appeared – “Too Bad For You, Paul” I can handle sensationalism. I have become immune to it. It is in every kind of news and advertising. I can also handle being mocked, belittled and condecending attitudes. My email reply to you might have been somewhat harsh, I apologize for it. But my point still stands. Use sensationalizm if you wish, but remember one thing when you use subject lines as the one above. Real live human beings are on the other end of the emails you send out. They deserve respect and consideration. Think before you leap.

One more thing, no where in your posts or your replies to my emails have you had the courtesy of saying “I apologize if I have offended anyone”. You simply state your reasoning for doing what you do. I for one think that is arrogant.

If that is the way you are, If that is your personality, I feel sorry for you, and that’s “Too Bad For You, Alex” because you are really missing the point.

Subject line is just that – subject line. It is designed to have email opened and as I have already stated, I’m a in a business of selling things. It was a bit on a side of sensationalism but NOT misleading and designed to have email opened. If someone was offended by the content of the email – there is ALWAYS an unsubscribe option, clicking which is lot simpler then emailing insults and less time consuming for all involved.

And just to repeat – this post was written to explain my position more then anything else. It is a known fact that for everyone who speaks up there are dozen who wanted but decided against it. I recognized the validity of concerns expressed and decided to reply to all.

A lot of people (myself included) are getting annoyed by the enormous number of IM product launches in the past few months(or days?), each of them claiming to be the best, the latest, the definitive solution or deal. Then their inbox gets flooded with hundreds of emails from different marketers with the exact same subject line and text (what a lack of creativeness!) and the same scare tactics:”buy now ’cause price will go up in no time”. They later find out that many of these products keep being sold at the same or even at a lower price months after launch…and that they weren’t the definitive solution or deal because a new one – this one “definitely definitive” – is on prelaunch!

And the “bonus war” at every new launch makes us think about the real value of these marketers’ products…

Many people are fed up with all this. Wouldn’t it be about time marketers changed a bit their tactics? This whole approach is generating disbelief and unexpected overreactions like the ones you’ve just experienced. Most subscribers just delete the email message, others feel the need to make their point.

I’m in no way endorsing being rude or unpolite but I see something very positive here: these guys are reading your emails and letting you know how they feel about it. That’s free feedback. As for the unsubscribe button, they will use it if they lose trust in you.

PS: I’m in your list, I do read your emails but I haven’t sent you any reply…
