Invaluable advice - especially if your blog is something that you are really interested in writing about. I tend to find myself going off on a tangent if I come across something that interests me whilst researching. Reminding myself that my goal is to earn extra money from home NOT satisfy my own curiosity.

Alex,
This is exactly the stuff I have been struggling with!

I have about 5 ongoing projects I work on. I have spent so much time running around in circles trying to decide what to work on and what to do when I finally figure out which project to focus on that I don’t end up getting anything done.

I finally decided to break it all down to the lowest common denominator of my business. Those money making activities.

They are the same for all my projects.

I then decided to give each project a day of the week.

Now I know what project I’m supposed to be working on and because I did some thinking I know exactly what money making activities I need to focus on during the day.

It has helped immensely! I am seeing an increase in traffic, and money, and have found more time to spend with my family, instead of feeling like the work is never done!

Great post, and a very important element for online business that many people don’t work out for themselves. Thanks for brining it to the forefront of the discussion!

Yep, automation is the key but first the proper process need to be setup and not all automation is good. Sometimes to benefit from action – it has to be done nearly manually, such as social marketing, etc. And I don’t mean spamming social sites but sharing your content alone with other…

So, while i do agree automation is great and required in many aspects of your business – some processes have to be done the old way.
