Getting banned from a search engines is not very common but it does happen and I would like to share some simple tips on creating content that will ensure not only satisfied visitors but also happy search engines.

Traffic is everything for a web business, be it a simple personal blog or a full-blown eStore. Traffic is a lifeline of your Internet business and generating high quality, targeted traffic is something every Webmaster strives for. Problem is some go way too far in [tag-tec]web-design[/tag-tec] and instead of generating that most desired component of their business – they Get Banned From Search Engines.

I’m not going to attempt to discuss How To generate targeted [tag-tec]traffic[/tag-tec] but instead discuss other side of the story – How Not To Get Banned From Search Engine. Here are some of the most common errors webmasters make:

Most of the web designers do not use the keywords efficiently. Keywords are very effective in terms of web traffic. It is the best way for the search engines to rank the websites. The keywords must be the key for the visitors to locate the site easily.

Replicating similar keywords. There are webmasters who keeps on repeating the same keywords over and over again. It is called keyword stocking. As a result, the search engine may skip the page or the entire website.

Raiding the pages and other websites. It is important for the web designer to know how important links are. Most of the time, there are web designers who rob icons from other websites and use it for their own purpose. The web designers should have a unique idea of their own. Search engines are very powerful in detecting the websites that have the same icon content. It is very important in order to prevent the sites from being out listed in the main search engines.

There are webmasters and designers who use the keywords that are not connected to their websites. One thing that they should do is to maintain websites that have protocol. The unconnected topics and keywords must be removed. Remember search engines are smart, it can consider the page as spam and be automatically eliminated from the list.

Having stuffed keywords. There are websites that have a multiple graphic description. Stuffed keywords can make the websites layered and appeared awkward to the search engines. If the search engines detected the website parameter that contains massive amount of keywords and graphics, the search engine can consider the site as spam.

There are websites that relies on the hidden text. The keywords should not be hidden or invisible. There are clever designers who hide keywords by making it appears as the same color with the site background.

False presumption about search engines. There are web designers who presume that all search engines has the same category that plays the same functions and roles. Make it a point to learn about the appropriate requirements of each search engine.

As much as possible don’t use free web hosting. One of the basic significance of web hosting is to have a promising increase on search engine ranking.

Most people who start off making money online with a blog soon realize that the money depends on a few critical things. The first one is traffic – how many people visit your website. And the other obvious thing is conversion.

Obviously, you cannot make any money when there are no people visiting your website. Even a little kid can figure this out. I know you knew this stuff.

But what you need to really think over is how “targeted” that traffic is.

You have probably seen this in your Google analytics stats already. There are days when you get 30 people visiting your website and get a sale, but there are days when you get 100 people, but no sales take place.

What’s the reason?

You name it, it’s how “targeted” your traffic is. It either makes or breaks your marketing whether online or offline. It’s the glue that holds all marketing and money making together.

How It All Works

Say, you have 300 people visiting your website on a monthly basis.

The question is: what are the traffic sources?

Now, you know, there are a “gazillion” different sources of traffic online, as there are so many websites available.

But the vast majority of internet marketers use something similar their peer internet marketers are using. This could be SEO, videos, articles, blog posts, blog comments, JV’s, podcasts etc.

You need to understand that there’s no “one-for-all” traffic source. There is no one source of traffic, which can be used in each and every niche equally effectively.

That’s why people get stuck when hoping to get money – relying only on one source.

It’s actually a big secret only the veteran internet marketers know that in every niche there is a certain loophole. Your job is to discover these loopholes so that you can get the most out of every penny you spend on marketing.

Let’s Take A Niche

Anyway, let’s say that you’re in the “wind energy” niche. If you were in this niche, you should know that there are many different opportunities to market to your prospects.

There are some great forums to do forum marketing and many blogs where you could do blog commenting or guest posting. You could make videos, tutorials etc.

SEO is a great alternative to all that because SEO can give you a big return of investment for the long tail KW’s compared to the “weight loss” niche where SEO can be a big pain.

But the most important job for you is to know the numbers. For example, if you target 10 long-tail keywords and get 15 visitors a day from each keyword on average, then this can be a hardly viable strategy to make money online. The numbers are simply too small.

SEO doesn’t have such a great conversion rate to make you rich online getting only a couple hundred visitors a day.

The big disadvantage with SEO, as with most of the traffic strategies, is that those people who visit your website, they are mostly only “browsers”. They only want information about the topic you cover.

These people go under the “blog readers” and RSS subscribers category. Either they don’t have any money or find that your blog stuff is good enough not to buy any products.

But these people could also be simply “strangers” having no interest whatsoever in your content or having little interest in your content. The people “testing the waters”.

See, you have to know your customer if you want get targeted traffic. Or else, it is like hitting a target you don’t see.

Knowing Your Customers

If you are in business, then it means everything revolves around your customers. Therefore, you need to absolutely make sure you know what makes them tick.

Basically, the majority of your blog readers have a common need or interest, or passion or problem they need a solution to.

To get targeted traffic you need to know your customers as deeply as possible. Because you cannot get targeted traffic without knowing your “ideal” prospect.

What’s Not Targeted Traffic?

As I said earlier, there is no such thing as one-suits-all traffic source. Therefore, you need to be very mindful when evaluating a particular traffic strategy in a particular market.

For example, in the “wind energy” niche strategies which could work better than others are JV’s, guest posting, blog commenting, SEO. But, on the other hand, forum marketing or social bookmarking, or video marketing or web 2.0 are less powerful.

Again, it all depends on what exactly you sell as a product and your exact niche.

If you asked me which strategies give you the greatest ROI (return of investment), then I would go for JV’s and guest posting or maybe SEO.

But any one of the above-mentioned strategies could give you non-targeted traffic.

Why?

Because, again, it all depends on customers. They could be interested in your products or they could be not.

If your joint venture sends his entire 1000 people list an email promoting your “wind energy” product, but his list contains mostly “bio fuel-for-car” enthusiasts, your marketing could not work out as well as expected.

So, I urge you to really think over, who exactly is your customer?

Describe him or her in very clear detail. You need to know their passions, interests, problems, needs (and wants), their age, looks, intelligence level, monthly income etc.

The more specific you are about your customer the better you’ll do to get highly targeted traffic.

4. Look At Those Comments!

Have you ever read some popular blogs about “blogging”, “make money online”, “internet marketing”, “weight loss”, “PC hardware”, “personal development”, whatever.

I bet you have, or else you wouldn’t have found this article.

OK, but what is important is that you look at those comments. There’s a very obvious similarity among all the top blogs.

It is – on most big blogs there is a certain group of people who comment regularly and have a picture, and have their own blog.

You could easily use their comments to search for new guest posting opportunities. You do it simply by visiting his/her website clicking the link above the comment.

There are many people who regularly comment on other blogs which they read frequently and most importantly do guest posts themselves.

5. Facebook And Twitter

It seems like most people who go online either visit and spend all their time on YouTube or Facebook, or Twitter.

Not really the best way how to use your time if you are an entrepreneur, but why not use this statistic to our advantage?

If you’re doing Facebook or Twitter a lot, then it’s a no-brainer to watch out for some guest posting opportunities.

You could just ask for it. Yeah, just ask.

If you have friends involved in blogging, that’s ideal. But, maybe they have some other friends who are involved in blogging?

If you dig deep enough, you can find the gold.

When you find someone, shoot an e-mail to them telling that you’re interested in a particular topic and have some knowledge in it, and want to write a great guest post for them.

The rule is simple: “The better the relationship with the webmaster, the more you’ll get your guest posts live on his/her blog”.

These people are already accepting guest posts and most likely actively looking for new writers. You have a greater chance to get accepted by them.

6. Craigslist

There are many ways you could utilize Craigslist while growing your business. But why not use it to get new guest posting opportunities?

Many webmasters are already looking for people who can write quality stuff for their website.

The twist is that you could approach them instead.

Ask them if they would like to receive some free articles from you on condition that they link back to your own website.

Tell them why you’re an authority or expert in your field and how much their readers will like your guest post. Just try to make yourself stand out from all the rest of people competing with you for the guest post or article.

Of course, you could also write an ad to showcase your guest blogging capabilities. Or you could simply offer your services as a guest blogging author interested in particular topics.

What Are One-Way Backlinks?

The way it works in the Internet world is that search engines are sifting throughout the millions of websites to bring forth the best and most relevant search results to the public. Part of the way they are able to distinguish who the front-runners are is by seeing how many people link to your article or site. Search engines see the websites that link to you as votes of confidence, if you will. 2. Get Creative with Infographics

Informational graphics or infographics display data in an eye-catching graphic form. Infographics should be witty, clever, and eye-catching. When websites successfully pull it off, other sites and readers will be eager to post and socialize the graph, leading to quality backlinks that raise your brand and reputation.

Come up with an infographic that is representative of your brand or the service that you offer. Once you’ve decided on the concept, hire a designer to create it and then embed your site’s link. For example, if you own a custom shoe business and want to display your most popular styles over the years, you could design a stylish infographic that showcases the different types of shoes youÕve created as well as the number of sales for each. Or, maybe you are a business owner who owns a number of businesses in an area and you want customers to see all of your businesses at a glance. For you to be noticed by a top maggot you need to offer something; your time, your energy, your support, free work, etc. These guys are busy and they simply won’t respond to every Tom, Dick and Harry who happens to seek their friendship.

Design a Killer Profile

Unless your profile stands out among the competition you will only ever be another number in the crowd. The best way to stand out is to make your profile page in-your-face. Be outspoken, be hilarious, be grumpy, be different. Whatever it takes to achieve this. Today, it is getting harder and harder to be a unique entity because of the sheer number of people who market online.

Having said this, it isn’t impossible. You can put on your creative hat and start thinking about ways to attract people’s attention without being nasty, aggressive or abusive to them.

I don’t really know how much of that is true and have no clue who the reporter is but I found it quite education from perspective on how important Web Traffic has become. People possibly loosing jobs as direct result of producing information that is No Longer Relevant!

Politics aside, as I have no intentions to discuss them on my blog – I think it serves as a lesson. A lesson for every blogger to

stay current
stay relevant
stay strong

…or be fired! Literally or by through the means of the slow decline makes no difference.

I know how hard it is to find relevant information to write about and sometimes even the time to write it but if you want for your blog to succeed – it is one of the things that you have to get done – Get Traffic or Get Fired!

Step 1 – Evaluate Where Most Of Your Current Traffic Coming From

This will be the most important step as we need to know exactly What Works for you right now! And in order to get this done – we need some form of Stats Tracking implemented that provides us with fairly detailed information.

I personally prefer and teach my Expert WordPress customers how to integrate Google Analytics, as it is free, easy to add to your blog (just insert their javascript before the closing tag in footer.php) and provides decent level of stats.

If you haven’t been using Google Stats before – you need about a month worth of stats to get more or less accurate picture on where most of your visitors are coming from. Once you identify your traffic sources – move to step 2

Step 2 – Isolate 3 Traffic Sources And Identify What Promotion Associated With It

Time is precious and for us to increase amount of visitors coming to your blog we need to identify which of your promotional efforts or perhaps SEO strategies work right now and concentrate more effort on it.

Implement Rinse And Repeat Strategy!

If something is already working for your blog it only makes sense to do more of the same to get even more traffic. Couple examples could be:

Search Engines show up as major traffic source but when you look at what content brings most of the traffic you find that you have many posts deliver a bit of traffic each but combined create a large Volume!
Conclusion – Your SEO Efforts work and each post properly optimized for search engines delivers traffic even though only just a bit each post individually.
Action Plan – Do a long tale keyword research, write more posts optimized for ranking for long tale ranking.

Conclusion – your article marketing works as designed and article directory delivers you not only the traffic you need but also new loyal readers and blog subscribers.
Action Plan – Continue your article marketing efforts and simply increase number of articles you submit. If you simply double the number of submitted articles you should effectively double the number of new visitors from that source.

And same principal can be applied to ANY traffic source. All you have to do is Identify The Source, Associate Promotional Effort Responsible for it, Rinse and Repeat but increase intensity!

Double Your “Proven To Work” Efforts – Double Your Traffic!

Now you still left about 60% of promotional efforts left unused after you cut out what is not working and doubling what does. So lets put this effort into…

Step 3 – Finding New Sources

While strategy above should help you overcome the traffic plateau and effectively get a lot more of visitors, it is based on idea of simply taking advantage of what already works and ignoring the fact that these sources might have their own limits.

Reality is – if you don’t branch out and continue to search for new sources of traffic – you will eventually hit the plateau again. Unique Visitors number might be a lot higher but problem will still be same – luck of growth.

You simply must continue to grow, don’t settle on any single strategy and when you find one that works – add it to your 20% of the “working efforts” and continue to search for new ones. This will obviously be different for each blogger as it will be determined but what you currently do that works. Here are some of the more common:

Perhaps I will sound like a broken record but I have seen direct benefits of using CommentLuv since the day it was first released by Andy Bailey and been a vocal supporter and described some of the usage options in my previous posts:

But How Do You Actually Find Blogs With CommentLuv Enabled and relevant to your Niche? Because this is where you will see most benefits from links to your content, especially since Google decided to ignore “nofollow” attribute that they invented!

Google is your friend and while I’m sure more “elaborate” search can be performed to get the job done, here is an example of search string I would personally use to locate a blogs with CommentLuv enabled in “home decor” Niche:

home decor & “title=”CommentLuv Enabled”"

Idea here is quite simple and requires that you use 2 attributes:

Your main keyword or key phrase used by blogs you want to find, such as home decor in example above and
Forcing to sort those blogs by including only blog that have following attribute “title=”CommentLuv Enabled”" – double quote seem to work best for me to ensure nothing is missed as it forces Google to search for a very specific HTML code that you would see when doing a View Source option on commentluv enabled blog at the end of comment form.
& attribute is required to tie them together and ensure that BOTH present in Search Engine results

Please be advised that this is not the 100% guaranteed way to find it because Google returns results of the pages it has scanned and saved in Search Index and some of them quite old. Since bloggers are a strange bunch who likes to change things up – CommentLuv might have been already removed from their plugins.

Just keep it in mind and once you find a blog you need – add it to your own list of blogs and comment frequently to get the incoming links benefits!
