Reason 2: Low quality website content

Remember that you’re working with a blog and its main focus should always be to provide information for your followers. Low quality web content is another major reason why many blogs fail. Unfortunately, you’ll need a lot of traffic in order to really squeeze earnings from your blog. Apart from Google AdSense, you can also earn money from your blog by offering ad spaces to private firms or by selling small downloadable items like eBooks, software and CDs and DVDs.

Reason 6: Poor placements of advertising banners

The poor placing of advertising banners in your blog might also be one major reason why you’re not earning from your blogging efforts. Play and experiment with your blog’s layout to find out the most profitable placement of advertisements.

Reviews on the Internet can be a tricky thing. Most Internet marketers assume that writing a review is always regarded as sharing a personal opinion, and chances are good that you’re reading this post from a country that values free speech as a right. But with organizations like the Federal Trade Commission involved, you have to be very careful any time you promote a product or service on your blog.

It’s not just your reputation as a blogger on the line if you make a mistake, but your very livelihood. Worse, you could face fines or legal repercussions should you falsely promote a product for personal gain. So what are the dangers of building review sites, or even hosting a guest review on your blog?

The Federal Trade Commission

The FTC publishes a set of guidelines periodically on endorsements (which you can find here) that outline exactly what you can and can’t do when you endorse a product or service. But there are a couple of general rules that can help you adhere to the guide quickly when looking at your own website.

If you receive some form of compensation for reviewing a product, this should be disclosed at some point in the review. For example, you might be contacted by an advertiser that offers to pay you each time you write a positive review of their product on your site, instead of buying banner advertising. This should be mentioned in the review. This works the same way if you receive the product for free, and expect to continue receiving free products from the advertiser in exchange for positive reviews. Of course, simply receiving a free product with no strings attached because the company hopes you will provide a good review does not necessarily require a disclosure that you didn’t have to pay for the product.

For the sake of honesty however, you might decide to mention that the company provided that product or service to you at no charge. The disclosure can be as simple as — Disclosure: I was compensated to provide this review on behalf of [Insert Company].

But anchor text is a whole different story. Just because you link to a site does not mean that you are reviewing their product. If you receive no monetary compensation for linking to a review site, such as including a link to a wireless Internet site using anchor text like compare CLEAR 4G, like we did here, you’ve done nothing wrong according to the FTC.

To sum up the FTC Endorsement Guidelines, remember these three simple rules:

• Don’t review a product that you haven’t tried.
• If you receive some form of compensation for trying a product and didn’t like the product, don’t pretend like you did.
• Don’t support or make claims that can’t be backed by research or scientific proof. If you can’t prove that a product will help you lose 60 pounds in one week, for example, don’t say so in the review.

The FTC is particularly careful about any product that consumers put in their mouths, such as pills or food. Be absolutely certain that you can back up every claim that you make about a product before endorsing it. As you will see in the next section, the repercussions for making false claims about a diet pill can be severe. Once you start reviewing weight loss or similar products, you begin treading not just in FTC territory, but FDA territory as well.

What Can Happen if You Violate FTC/FDA Guidelines

It’s unlikely that you’ll face a fine for forgetting to disclose that you were compensated for providing a positive review of a product. It’s even more unlikely that you’ll face prison time. However, making false claims about a product or service is a whole new ballgame, and you can face very serious consequences for doing so.

Two famous fraud cases have been reported in the last year, both involving dietary supplements. One man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for allegedly making false claims about a diet pill that promised to help users shed nearly 50 pounds in a month. His claims were supported by an unlicensed Mexican doctor, when they were even remotely supported at all. Prosecutors also claimed that the man received substantial monetary benefits for providing the false reviews, making as much as $10 million in four years.

Another famous infomercial guru named Don Lapre was also indicted for allegedly making false claims that prosecutors claim defrauded hundreds of thousands of customers for millions of dollars. These infomercials made claims involving a product called “The Greatest Vitamin in the World.” The FDA simply charged the man with making claims that were not supported by evidence, and indicted him of 41 counts of fraud. He was later found dead in prison of a self-inflicted wound.

In general, avoid making substantial claims like “this is the best product in the world” or “this product will change your life” if those claims cannot be supported by evidence. A good rule is to simply avoid hyperbole in your statements.

Your Website’s Readers and Trust

Legal trouble is not your only worry when using reviews to monetize your website. Your readers trust that the information you provide is honest and accurate — that’s why they read your content. If you continually review products that you haven’t tried, or promote products that you don’t like yourself, you risk losing your readers’ trust, and losing traffic and conversions.

To avoid losing trust in your audience, try every product before providing a review, even with sponsored reviews. If your advertisers are not willing to let you try a product before allowing them to post a review or advertisement, it might be time to find new advertisers. Best of all, you can make the claim that you try each and every advertiser or product that goes on your site before publishing information — which can help you earn more trust and conversions.

Focus on products that really fit your audience’s interests. In other words, don’t simply send out email newsletters loaded with every advertisement you can secure. This can actually hurt your conversion rates more than it can help them. Readers can usually tell if you honestly think a product or service is worth their time.

Remember, some bad points in every review show that you are impartial, and don’t necessarily mean that they won’t buy the product. There are negative aspects to even the best products and services in every niche, and things like a low selling price or overwhelming positives can still make a product worth its price.

I have always been clear when making a product reviews on my blog that I use affiliate links. In fact Affiliate Marketing is a big part of the monetization model on my blog  and in last 3 month or so, ever since I heard that FTC will go after internet endorsements I have added extra disclaimers to each post that included affiliate links.

Well, time has come – “Big Brother” has his eyes on Your Blog Income!

Yesterday FTC has resealed final guides governing endorsements, testimonials and yes, that includes promotions via Affiliate Links! This could have a very dramatic impact on your affiliate marketing business if you don’t precautions. And here is how and what…

First and foremost I want to make a disclaimer:

I’m not a lawyer, I’m not qualified to give you legal advise and if you have ANY legal questions or concerns I highly recommend you get yourself advise from professionals!

With that being said I want to share what I use for legal protection of my own sites, such as you can see in legal documentation section of my blog.

For years I was using legal forms on my sites that you can create using some free generators. And sorry, I will not even link to those for one simple reason – I have learned that those generic form generators actually have more chances to damage you instead of protecting. They simply leave too many loopholes open for your site to become legal liability to you and your family!

I don’t know about you but I prefer to be as secure and as protected as possible.

To really get a solid legal defense you got couple options:

1. Get an Internet Lawyer to create legal documentation for your sites. And it is very important to hire a qualified professional. Internet Law is a new so be sure if you hire someone who know all the intricacies of the new media format and offer you solid protection! This is the most expensive but best form of protection you can find, expect to part with a few hundred dollars.

2. Get Website Legal Forms Generator. This is a software I use myself to create all legal forms for my own sites, such as I have shown above. And reason behind it simple. Software created by Internet lawyer Mike Young, who knows the nature of the web law and provides you with very decent protection for the price you pay!

I like the simplicity of the software and protection it provides but it also doesn’t hurt to know that you get ongoing support.

Since the FTC guides just came out – software doesn’t generate dedicated form for it but when I first heard about this regulation coming, I have contacted them and was advised that once final version of regulation released – they will include protection for it. Is is always nice to know that you and your family are protected against intrusive eye of Big Brother.

Not that I don’t like government – I simply don’t like them to meddle in my business affairs. Unfortunately they have a proven record of screwing up anything they touch.

Making money with your blog is easy and actually almost automated once your blog gets a bit of age and ranking. This is mainly due to the fact that most blogs die a lot sooner than traditional websites and advertisers view them as “more volatile” investment but once you have proven that your blog is here to stay – You Got Yourself Blog Income Potential!

In fact I get nearly several requests each week for advertisements on pages of my blog. They come in multiple shapes and forms but have couple things in common, which we will get to in a bit. What I want to discuss here is YOUR blog goals, because it will help you identify which ads will stay and which will be declined!

What Are You Trying To Accomplish?

A core question you should ask yourself and one you need to answer honestly.

• Is your blog designed to get subscribers?
• Sell Your own product?
• Sell affiliate products?
• Monetize via AdSense
• Or simply deliver content you are passionate about?

And while I understand that multiple monetization options are and should be deployed at every blog – I’m sure you can identify one that works for you the best. That is the one that should become the center of attention – Your Main Goal.

And once you have established the main goal it becomes easier to understand what is one action you want your visitors to take and how to distribute other monetization options on your blog to not interfere with that action, not distract from it.

External Advertisement simply becomes one of those options and for some might even become The Goal, which will change the priorities but you will have to evaluate it for yourself! In case of this article I’m talking about external ads as an “additional income stream” and nothing more!

Put A Price On It!

Now that you have a clear understanding of your main goal – you need to evaluate your blog:

• How well does it lead people into taking an action toward Your Goal
• Do you have enough of the “Calls to Action” for your goal or do you have Too Much?
• Do secondary goals, which could be ads or subscription or just about anything you define, interfere with your primary goal or do they coexist nicely and perhaps even add to it?

Once you have that understanding – you know how much extra space you can dedicate to secondary goals or as is the case with my blog – affiliate ads and external advertisement!

This exercise just helped me to identify How Much Space I can Allow For Secondary Ads!

One other thing I still need to determine is how much blogs similar to mine and with comparable traffic ask for their advertising space, taking into account number of ads they have available and number of ads I’m willing to allow.

Nothing scientific here but simply understanding that if a “Blog A” charges $25 a month for a 125×125 banner on their blog while giving room for 6 ads – I can safely increase this price to $35 a month if I only provide space for 3 ads because with comparable traffic I offer HIGHER visibility to advertisers.

One last thing to consider is by doing this exercise on several of comparable blogs and coming up with a Ad Value or Price on my blog. It is my blog space to sell but I have to be competitive OR Not Participate At All!

Stick To Your Guns!

Now that we have the understanding of how much we value ad space on our blogs – we need to stick to that value, if it doesn’t sell well – we might have to re-evaluate it but still stick to it!

Create an Advertise page on your blog where you clearly explain how much it costs to advertise on your blog and options available. Your choices can be just about anything you are willing to offer and I’m not here to give you any ideas – just have a look at what options offered at the blogs evaluated previously. Craft your offer to be competitive!

One thing I see time and time again is that when people contact me for advertisement opportunity – they will try to low-ball the price, completely ignoring the guidelines on my page.

I guess some people might think I’m desperate for the money to accept the price a lot less than what I set.

Well, guess what…

External Advertisements are just a sidekick on my blog and its either my way or no way at all. In fact I have just removed the row of 125 banner from my sidebar to achieve my other objective – more important to me than selling ads space – offer people subscription to my eZine, which pretty much reduced advertising options on this blog to NOTHING but its OK with me…

My Main Goal Is Not Selling Ads Space!

Sticking to my guns in this case is not only a matter of getting the right price but also delivering a consistent message from the pages of my blog. I’m not hiding anything – I’m an affiliate marketer and I earn by providing relevant reviews on this blog, but not too often.

Main blog content is about sharing what I know and love and proving my right to speak on the subject. And once I have accomplished it and managed to deliver the content my readers come to expect – my goal is to sell the prime product I offer – Expert WordPress.

And to be quite honest – enough people take advantage of the offers provided for my product that I don’t need to sell Ads Space because my main goal delivers what I need!

Conclusion…

Oops, looks like I got a bit emotional in writing this post but it delivers the main message and hopefully shows Why and How to make determination of the basic ad value on your blog. I also tried to make a point that you Do Not Accept the low-balling ad offers!

• You have worked hard to create content optimized for search engines and written for people.
• You have spent time to bring the visitors to your blog
• You have invested effort into getting higher authority status for your blog

…don’t sell it off for pennies to “wannabe advertisers” who try to low-ball you. One click on their ad and you are loosing a visitor you have worked so hard to bring to your pages!

While Automated Blog Profits is not one of my favorite topics I get so many questions on it, I decided to answer it once and for all and do it based on my personal experience. But before I will even proceed I need to make a disclaimer:

What you will create as result of following ALL or SOME recommendations in this guide WILL NOT make you an authority blogger. It will earn you income (I have tested each part of the strategy) but how much will depend on your efforts as with any internet venture.

Allow me to explain the Main Idea first:

Create a WordPress blog that will have a Content optimized for Search Engines, posted automatically at some interval and promote itself without getting you banned from social networks. Have that content monetized. Rinse and Repeat the process.

Sounds simple enough? It almost is and while I haven’t seen a single product that accomplishes that task I have found an effective combination of the few that will get VERY CLOSE! And while almost each product makes their own recommendations on blog installation and plugins, I want to share what worked for me:

Build A Lean WordPress Blog Ready For Monetization and SEO’d

1. Install WordPress blog using whatever your favorite method is. It doesn’t really matter how you do it for the sake of this guide.

2. If you are planning to use AdSense or any other Text Ads networks (otherwise why would you build it?) locate and install one of the AdSense ready themes. You can find a link to a few of them in my WordPress Web 2.0 guide.

3. Install and activate a small set of plugins with one Single Purpose – maximum functionality with minimum load on server:

• Akismet – this one is a MUST to prevent SPAM, although you might want to disable commenting all together since your blog will generate no real comments anyway, just be a SPAM bot attraction. I’ll get to it later.
• All In One SEO Pack – I recommend you install this plugin to simplify SEO of Content generated on your blog. Pretty much default settings will work just make sure to set the options for home page and description.
• FeedBurner FeedSmith – trust me, install this one. You can use PingShot service provided by FeedBurner to notify RSS directories about new “quality” content on your blog, offloading that function off your blog! They give you an option for standard set plus 6 more of your choice and will ping them for you – make it count, pick the big one’s.
• Google XML Sitemaps – take full advantage of this plugin! Make sure to get Yahoo API and register your blog Sitemap in both Google Webmaster Tools and Yahoo Site Explorer to make sure big 2 know about new content as it is published on your blog.
• Ultimate Plugins Smart Update Pinger – use the ping list recommended by author in addition to the ALL notifications you send through PingShot (FeedBurner). Get those RSS directories filled with your Content.

4. Setup your blog with Amazon Context Ads. Use the power and brand name recognition of Amazon to turn your content into automated bulletin board, after all – you worked so hard to create content You can read detailed guide here.

5. Some Tweaks. These few tweaks are designed to help you rank better for long tale keywords and not something I would use on a regular blog:

• Permalinks. Use: /%postname%/
• Disable Comments: Settings->General Settings. Under Membership put a checkmark for Users must be registered and logged in to comment and uncheck Anyone can register
• Widgets. Make sure to use widgets NOT only for AdSense but also to display RSS Content from Related New Site or Information site and perhaps additional affiliate products. Amazon Widgets come to the rescue here – check your options.
  

Choose Your Automation and Monetization Model

While I have found that this method works best if ALL 3 products used at same time as they seem to compliment each other and address shortcomings – I realize that it might be just a bit too much to swing when you just getting started. But once you start generating the income I recommend you come back to this post and get what you missed…

1. Get WordPress Traffic. This product is a MUST if you are planning to create Automated Blog. It is a set of 3 plugins providing some very unique and tightly integrated services:

1. Poster Pro. This plugin allows you to grab all PLR articles and set it to be published on your blog at predetermined intervals. Mass import feature allows you to import HUGE number of articles and schedule it years ahead (if you have that many). You can also manually publish and edit articles.
2. Socialize-It Pro. This one is my favorite! Any content published on your blog will be Auto Submitted to multiple Social Networks, that includes all automated content. Plugin has a Randomness function built into it to prevent been banned for spamming. I still would be very careful with networks like Stumble Upon and Technorati. Not a ban you want to get.
3. RSS Agregator – Allows you to import RSS feeds and posted as content on your blog. Has quite a few control functions but I personally don’t use it. Be careful when you pick RSS feed to import to avoid loosing your AdSense and YPN for copyright infringement. And if you decide to use it - look for article directories or new sites that allows you to export their feed.

I recommend using the first 2 plugins from this product to publish that PLR content you might have (or easily find on Internet) and to promote it via social networks. Socalize-It Pro will also integrate itself into blog and all other content published will also get to benefit from it, which is exactly WHY we need it.

Which brings us to product…

2. 10 Days Cash Secret by Nail Snearing. Great product that provides you with a plugin and, set of training videos and affiliate feed formating tool that allows you to create a Niche Blogs filled with content generated from Affiliate Product Feed!

This one is a holy grail of Automated Blog Content. Several thousands of posts, ALL consist of products directly related to your blog niche and with integrated affiliate links. You are provided with a plugin that imports formatted Affiliate Product Feed and then publishes it via cron at regular intervals.

Power of this product is creation of blog posts optimized for a VERY long tail keywords but since each of them is actual product name – you get high click though and as result very nice affiliate commissions. Although the product says “10 days” – in my experience it took me more then two weeks to get a first sale and a few cents in affiliate commissions.  Nothing to be excited about but since then it has been steadily producing as traffic to the blog continues to grow and as I write this article I get 1-2 sales a week from a fully automated blog. Commissions range from few cents to a few dollars but that depends on what Affiliate Product feed you get.

CAUTION: I have seen that if you pick a feed with too many products – cron job tend to create a very high load on your host server and CAN lead to your account been disabled on shared hosting. 3500 or less products seem to perform quite nicely on hostgator shared hosting.

3. Get Easy Blog Pro. While this product can stand quite nicely on its own and turns your blog into an Article Directory either very broad or highly targeted (it is your choice to make) I found it to work BEST when combined with 2 products above.

It permitted me to specify automated publishing of VERY targeted articles (based on categories I chose) to my niche blog that is already filled with PLR content and Affiliate Products and provide continues flow of fresh content.

TIP: Using a script to pull articles from Article Marketer gives you a lot more targeted content since they provide you with more categories to choose from but also due to that – produces less articles. It also gives you more control over how Content is published.

We all know that your blog slowly dies as content flow stops! Unless you have a very large number of PLR content – it will run out soon and your blog filled with affiliate products will loose its effectiveness. This product will make sure it WILL NEVER happen.

You get high quality content published to your blog that sends Search Engines into feeding frenzy and push traffic to your affiliate products.

Idea is Simple. And So is its implementation.

Automated Blog Profits are possible but will require some work on your part to set it up initially and expect to install a few blogs in order to see returns enough to talk about. As I have mentioned in beginning – you will not become Authority Blogger using this method and will have to create a whole Blog Empire in order to benefit from Automated Blog Profits.

Whats Next? Rinse and Repeat process with enough blogs to generate the income level you need and then enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Answer to this one simple and complex at same time and perhaps by providing it here I will save myself some time answering it and help you determine if you should use AdSense on your blog…

What Is Right For You?

And by that question I mean – what is Most Desired Action on your blog?

Answer the question above for yourself and you will be one step closer to deciding if AdSense should be used on your blog or not. Because I’m not advocating NOT to use – I’m simply trying to say here that AdSense or any other text ads are not right for every blog…

• If you simply blog for fun or share information you know much about and have no other “alternative motive” then perhaps you should start implementing those ads ASAP.
• …but if you are using your blog to share your knowledge AND in process establish your right to share it (some call it authority) with a goal to sell some information product in directly related field then using AdSense will cause you to loose your visitors and perhaps shouldn’t be used.

Follow The Money!

I’ll be straight up here and make a statement you simply MUST know. Not every niche is created equal and what you right about is directly responsible on what type of ads it will pull from Google. As we all know clicks on those ads is what generates the income for you and while some ads can bring you several bucks, others will only give you a few cents, while still driving your visitor AWAY FROM YOUR BLOG…

You have worked hard to create content, you promoted your blog, you put your heart and your time to bring your visitors to your blog – are you willing to loose them in exchange for a few cents?

This is the second question you should answer for yourself. Determine how much do you actually get per click and is it worth to loose the visitors to gain this questionable income?

My own blog’s content is within a niche that brings next to nothing in terms of per-click income and I much rather keep the visitors reading my blog, establish relationship and possibly turn them into customers then have them click away from my blog. But you have to make that determination for your own blog…

If clicks on your blog worth enough to justify the placement of ads – don’t think twice and have them installed.

But either way don’t forget the simple principal…

Don’t Put All Your Eggs In One Basket!

And by that I simply mean don’t rely on AdSense as a source of income. Diversify your income options:

• Use affiliate marketing on your blog and it doesn’t even have to be glorified sales letters… remember, people read your blog because they like what you have to say, people value your opinion and sharing your honest take on a product directly related to your conversation topic will be interesting to your readers. Many will act, others will ignore but either way you don’t loose anything. Implementing ClickBank affiliate links is very simple and I have covered it already here.
• Implement CPA ads. This one is overlooked by many and yet it can be extremely profitable for right audience. Some CPA ads can bring as much as $20 per lead you send their way or even more. It does need to be directly related to your niche to be effective.
• Add Amazon affiliate tools to your blog. Using the trust that Amazon managed to establish on internet you can earn without annoying your visitors. What’s even better the granddaddy of Affiliate Marketing continues to increase options you have for income on autopilot. So if you don’t use them yet – have a second look at what’s in store… I covered one of the options in this post.
• Implement banner ads. Sell some of your blog real estate once you get some traffic and take advantage of banner ads come back.

Now these are not by any means all-inclusive list and never intended to be but it provides you with options to earn from your blog without breaking TOS of AdSense. And it doesn’t really matter if you use AdSense or not – I still recommend you have a look at affiliate marketing as an addition or even replacement for AdSense. In my case it is far more profitable then using text ads and that is one of the reasons why I don’t implement them.

Part 3 of the mini-series of posts dedicated to RSS technology and its benefits will build upon information shared in 2 previous posts:

… and in it I will not beat around the bush and want to concentrate directly on what is “near and dear” to every blogger – monetizing the RSS feed without loosing integrity of the blog and annoying our most precious readers – our loyal subscribers!

Make no mistake – RSS subscribers are your most loyal readers because they have made the decision to subscribe to your blog and read information you have to share on daily bases. While monetization of every blog (if you choose so) is important we should never forget the main purpose of our blogs – sharing of information and make sure we don’t annoy our loyal readers to the point of unsubscribing!

There are 2 major options to monetize your blog’s RSS Feed that I’m personally aware off and would even consider using and I will talk only about what I know…

1. External Ads

This option is most appropriate if you prefer the “hands off” approach to your blog monetization. And what I mean by this option is injection of external ads from Yahoo Publishers Network, AdSense or any other third party advertising. Once you set it up – you are good to go and all ads will be displayed on autopilot.

All you have left to do is collect the cash. Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it?

Well, I got a bad news for you: This method generally involves editing one or more of your core files to inject the ads into your feed. So the next time you run update of the core blog files you better make sure to backup up changes you made. Since I don’t personally use AdSense I can’t speak on what options they present but I have YPN account and let me tell you – options they provide is not for the technical novices …

But I better show you what I mean… Click this link to see the directions YPN provides for adding RSS Ads to your blog. As you can see it requires editing of several files which are part of the core!

Not something that I personally enjoy doing. My preference is to leave core files alone so on next upgrade I don’t have to worry about what files did I modify and then go through the process again. But fear not – I have a solution for this problem at the end of this article!

I know that a FeedBurner also offers ads integration into your RSS but I think you have to reach a certain qualifiers to be offered this opportunity and I personally haven’t met them yet, so if you have a tips on it – please do share…

2. Internal Ads

Internal Ads are just as stated – ads that are coming directly from you. I personally like this option the best and this is what I use. These ads are hand picked by me and ensure the most relevant information will be presented to my subscribers.

Using this option allows me to offer my own product as well as products through affiliate links. Since I’m all about Affiliate Marketing as the most beneficial to the blog, this option works quite well for me.

Internal Ads also allows me to sell the spots for advertising directly from my blog and control what will be displayed without paying some third party for it. All the income goes directly to me, just how I like it!

Solution To RSS Advertisement

As I have stated above I have a deep ingrained dislike of editing core files when I work with an Open Source scripts. WordPress is one of the best available and as such it provides nice and timely releases and updates. Be it enhancements of functionality or security fixes – it doesn’t matter because at the end it still means same thing – your core files will be replaced with new!

Now, I don’t know about you but perspective of making modifications every 30-40 days is not something I enjoy and why should I? I can easily add RSS Ads to my blog in a simple and less annoying manner by using plugin:

• Feed Footer WordPress Plugin – is the ultimate solution to all your problems. It provides you with 10 separate fields which can be used for adding advertisement to the footer of your RSS feed (less annoyance for subscribers) or perhaps simply insert copyright notice. Choice is yours but whichever way you decide to use it – it will make the task a whole lot easier…

WordPress flexibility is incredible and getting to know all your options is a MUST. Many bloggers feel that by providing Full Text RSS feed they loose visits to their blog, loose monetization option when in reality that I have experienced – it Only Helps!

There have been a lot of talk lately about Google AdSense stopped been the true contender for income and while in many ways it’s true (I don’t use simply because affiliate links pay me more) it is still a valuable source of income for great many people. People who have no clue about other form of Internet Marketing or income and quite frankly – probably not even interested to get into all the complexity associated with it.

And just yesterday I read a story featured on USA Today “Gray Googlers strike gold” that I think is a great inspiration for people who are looking to not get rich but perhaps simply supplement their existing income in exchange for couple, three hours of daily work. But it goes beyond that …

AdSense is far from dead and if you read the article you will be surprised to learn that some of the people mentioned in that article make more then just supplemental income. $120k a year is a very nice take considering that Jerry Alonzy doesn’t spend too much time on it. Google AdSense is one of the best ways to generate passive income from your blog or site and gives you the freedom to do what you like.

Obviously how much you will earn greatly depends on many factors and I was glad to read a quote from Joel Comm on very same article. Author of AdSense Code he provides one of the most comprehensive advises for people trying to earn that extra money via websites and one I personally find a true bargain you can get from Amazon right now.

Too many people search for latest and greatest way to earn online when one of the most obvious and easiest ways to do so available right there. All you have to do is reach out and grab it.

And here is fact that personally surprised me the most. Out of the 5 people mentioned in that article only 2 had websites I would personally have a second look at but each of them was filled with solid information. Content that is unique, to the point and provides answers to thequestios people have when they arrive on their pages. I hate to say it but in these cases it is clear that content supersedes the form.

I guess the only thing I’m left to wonder about – how much better could have these people done if they had a better designed sites or more optimized for both readers and earnings?
