Income Fitness by Barbara Ling is one eBook I have read lately that answers one of the biggest questions I get from multiple people:

This weekend I have finished my reading of Darren Rowse eBook “31 Days To Build a Better Blog“. All 94 pages of it! To say that it contains great information would be unfair understatement! eBook is a great resource for any blogger, no matter which platform you are using as it deals with general concepts that will apply to any platform and action steps that will work for ANY blog. So the question is then – why did I title this post:

When “Good Practice” is Bad Investment?

Right? Excellent point!

So there I was, seating… reading… agreeing…

Right up until I got to Day 27 (yes, entire ebook is a compilation of Blog Posts by Darren that was used in project with same name) – Hunt for Dead Links [Day 27: 31DBBB].

Entire lesson in that day is based on a VERY GOOD and solid “best practice” guideline for webmasters – be sure that you site doesn’t contain any dead links.

And by dead links it simply means – any link that goes to a page that either no longer exist or changed. It is a great advice but quite frankly – EXTREMELY time consuming. I don’t know about you but for me finding a time to create content and maintain other aspects of my online business is a lot more important.

Especially since there is No Known or at least confirmed penalty for having dead links as Darren rightfully states in his lesson and as mentioned by many other blogs around the web.

Problem often comes from using plugins on our blogs, as they create links not designed to be followed and as such give errors, that is in addition to actual links that are dead. On my last scan I had hundreds of “dead links” and it would require me way too much time to address them. Perhaps if you are just starting a new blog and integrate the process into your monthly routine as Darren suggests – it will work but for me…

Bad Investment of my time, considering that I don’t see it helping or punishing me.  So the questions is now – what do I think about eBook overall?

31 Days To Build A Better Blog

As I have stated right before I jumped into the argument on one of the points Darren makes in his eBook – “…I was, seating… reading… agreeing…”

That is because I think that eBook is a superb reference and action steps guide. While it is available for reading on Darren’s blog – I like to have an easy access to information, print is and read at my convenience. Yeah, I like to read printed information, as it also allows me to highlight the points I need to further look into and make the guide truly useful to me!

Oh, yeah – the eBook also includes notes from Darren, references for additional reading  and Action Steps for each Lesson, which I’m sure many will appreciate.

Quite nice features in my opinion!

While you can read the entire Guide on Darren’s Blog – I recommend you purchase the eBook edition as for $14 it is great investment! Even if you don’t follow every lesson I can assure you that you will get a lot of great information and with printed material – you can actually separate it into action steps as YOU are willing to take them!

I have installed and been using OIO Publisher plugin for last few days and you can see the ads presented by it at the very top of my blog. Interestingly enough it gets more clicks than I expected so I decided to keep it and also share with my readers.

Major Features Of OIO Publisher

When I initially purchase the plugin I was simply looking for 2 things:

1. Ability to offer ad space on my blog for sale in multiple formats that allowed me to keep all the income
2. Tracking and accessibility

What I got with OIO Publisher was quite a bit more as it is a full Ad Server that can be used as stand alone or as a plugin for your WordPress blog. Documentation can be better if I may say so but its not so hard to figure it out!

• Marketplace – unless your blog has a rabbit following and external interest like Darren Rowse does – you need a way to allow potential advertisers see what you have to offer. Plugin comes with an optional marketplace listing by manually reviewing your blog and providing you with API that gives advertisers access to purchase ad directly from marketplace. You still keep 100% of proceeds!

• Templates – If you click on Advertise link you will see the template page generated by plugin that allows me to sell ads on my blog without much intervention from me while still been controlled. You can even place it on complete Autopilot, although I wouldn’t recommend it! While I love automation – I need to have control over what ads displayed on my blog and I have that option.

• Multiple Ad Zones and Banner Types – this plugin supports them all and in some case more then most! You get the standard Banners of multiple sized, Text Ads that can be presented instead of AdSense or using something more custom like you see at the top of this blog but it also comes with couple Unique options:

• • Inline Ads - basically ads auto inserted into WordPress posts and can be images and text with you having complete control over the content
  • Intext Links – ever so popular option to buy a link from your blog post with linking from specific keyword! Well now you have a chance to sell those! HUGE opportunity here! I decided not to use them right now but its available!

• Review Posts – you can also sell review posts directly from your blog. Just be absolutely sure you know what you are doing when using this option to avoid any penalties and legal proceeding as we seen before. I personally don’t use this option but once again – you have it available! One thing here comes to mind – you have an option to make Posts option available for FREE with submitter providing content – can be great option to use for getting Guest Posts! I’m looking into that option!

• Multiple Payment Processing Options provided for you an should satisfy pretty much anyone. You can sell your ads easily and effectively – I do think only PayPal option allows you to set re-occurring purchase (subscription) but not 100% sure.

• Tracking and Stats something you simply must have and this plugin delivers! Not only do you get standard web based stats – you can also set to email stats to your advertisers. This way they know they value they get for a dollar spent!

• Modular Design of the plugin gives i flexibility to expand! It actually have a way for you to offer affiliate commissions for selling ads on your blog! how cool is that?! Not that I plan to use it but I have it available and it can be a great option if your blog is used to promote upcoming product lunch!

Functionality above are just some of the most important and interesting features of the OIO Publisher plugin that I have personally played around with and found to be beneficial.

There are minuses…

OIO Publisher Shortcomings

• Documentation – one thing that can never be provided enough off and its true for any script. No matter how much you document things, you simply can;t cover everything. While plugin comes with guides – there could be more detailed instructions. I do have to add that you are also provided with support forums and in my experience Simon, plugin developer responded very fast to help request!

• Requires Some Knowledge – you have to be able to understand and implement ad zones, perhaps even modify code in your WordPress templates to implement them. In my case I had to define new CSS class to style it properly. On upside to this – Inline Ads come to your rescue and allow auto insert the ads for you!

I was one of the few who got lucky and managed to get my DVD and magazine when Stomping The Search Engines 2 launched a few month back! I can’t praise it highly enough for the amount of educational material it provides.

Granted they had some issues with fulfillment but it appears to be all addressed now! Better yet – STSE2 went digital! Not 100% but it is a default option now and you can begin watching the entire training instantly after paying just $1!

Super Affiliate Blogger released by Gobala Krishnan managed to generate a few questions from my customers and subscribers and I decided to answer the questions and write a full Review on Super Affiliate Blogger.

In this article I want to share my personal view on what is good and what I have discovered to be a potential issue and you might have to watch out for and I also want to talk about what I personally think is the Greatest Feature of Super Affiliate Blogger product.

You might be surprised to learn what conclusions I came up with after reading, digesting and perhaps most importantly – Testing of the plugins that come with Super Affiliate Blogger product!

So, dig in and see what you will discover for yourself and make a decision if the product is right for you…

But before we even begin talking about the product I think it is important to understand the components included because my personal conclusion will heavily rely on your understanding why I came to it… so in the first part of review we will look at..

What Is Included Into Super Affiliate Blogger?

Gobala has separated products in its own distinctive modules based on functionality they present or information they provide.

Module 1: Super Affiliate Blogger Guide

217 pages eBook that is a unique blend of WordPress guide and Affiliate Marketing. Gobala takes approach that addresses 2 major issues – bloggers get to learn about Affiliate Marketing and Affiliate Marketers get introduced to blogging.

Filled with tried and true information it can be a complete guide or a refresher course if you are not familiar with all the aspects required to be completed to blend the two nicely and to enjoy the profits. I think Super Affiliate Blogger Guide eBook could have easily stood on its own as a product but since Gobala have introduced a twist in form of other modules I will discuss those in details!

Module 2: Super Affiliate Pro WordPress Themes

As it states – a collection of professionally designed Niche themes fro WordPress to help you get started as soon as possible and create a look to the blog that is most appropriate for your specific niche. I will not be talking about this one too much as you simply have to see them for yourself…

Module 3: Affiliate Link Tracking System for WordPress

Now we are getting to the core of what I personally thought was the Best Part of the product! A plugin for WordPress 2.5.* that allows you to integrate Affiliate Masking and cloaking into the blog Admin interface. It makes a process of including affiliate links into your blog so simple – I’ll be migrating All my own links to it, as I go alone.

Right now I use third party solution (script) for affiliate link masking and tracking but starting with this post – my affiliate links are on the plugin provided with SAB. It is a great time saver to have an easy access to that function from within your blog interface.

While it doesn’t have too many features – it has all the basics one would need: tracking, cloaking, custom name AND integration into Editor. See screenshot below:

Make No Mistake – while this plugin is not loaded with huge number of features – I personally think this one could have been a product on its own. From all the modules included in the product I found this one to be the Most Beneficial as it provides me with time savings.

Side Note: I have discovered on one of my blogs used for testing that when Permalinks url and one of the custom links specified in Cute Links have same first word – it defaulted to the permalink URL. For example www.blog.com/likes/wordpress (cute link) would default to www.blog.com/wordpress-article-I-have. Changing custom link fixes the issue but make sure to test your links – ALWAYS!

Module 4: Opt-In List Building System for WordPress

Second plugin included with the Super Affiliate Blogger it also addresses one of the problems encountered by many bloggers – Opt-In form inclusion. I can attest to it as I had to answer quite a few support requests with my customers advising them HOW to add the Subscribe form to Sidebar without breaking the blog layout.

If you know how to work with CSS and HTML this one might not be needed fro you but simplicity it provides can be a HUGE time saver and head ache remover from great many bloggers. Adding a subscription form is as easy as Creating a new form and providing all the necessary details, see image below

And then simply adding a New Widget to Sidebar location most appropriate for your blog.

As I have mentioned – if you know how to work with HTML – you will not need this plugin but if you treasure your time or simply want the simplicity – this one is a great tool and time saver!

Module 5: Super Affiliate Blueprint Handbook

This one as it states – blueprint that outlines what needs to be done n order to benefit the guide to its fullest. Honestly I have only glanced at it as I always tend to rely on my own schedule and designations of what is important and what is not.

7 Days Work Plan provided by this blueprint should force you to actually have a blog ready for affiliate income and earning. I like the way tasks have been outlined but as mentioned before – rely on my own pace…

There are also Bonuses, Support, One Way links and some other goodies included with the system but in my personal opinion…

2 Plugins I have described above and the eBook itself make this product a great value if you are not versed in both aspects outlined in it or simply want to save time through the use of plugins that provide access to some very crucial functions of affiliate marketing from within your WordPress Admin interface.

I’m a strong believer that blogging and affiliate marketing are two aspects of online business that not only beneficial to each other but should be blended anytime there is an opportunity. Nothing is more effective right now then this blend simply because it allows you to take advantage of the best of two worlds while still keeping your transparency and integrity in tact! AdSense (or YPN in my case) has never been a big part of my personal monetization strategy simply because I know I can get more from my content via other means but when I DON’T have to write a word and get additional income from it – it becomes a different story… and here is the kicker: It Is 100% Legal and according to All Copyrights! In fact authors love you for it and willing to send some traffic as was proven on my blog…

I guess I got your attention if you are reading this far, huh?

I know this post contradicts all my other teachings on this blog about creating quality unique content in order to get visitors and clicks. But creating this quality content takes time to research, write and promote. Time that requires for majority of people to drop other projects and concentrates on one or two blogs.

• What if you have other domain names that are well researched and you know can pull the profits but simply don’t have time to write for it or money to outsource the process?

In fact that is how I came to the point of trying the method I’m about to share. I had couple domain names that I stopped developing and they were slowly deteriorating into nothing and going from PR4 to PR2 in one case I will use as an example. Daily traffic volume on that site has dropped from 500-700 to 30-40 visitors a day since I have stopped writing for it and only due to couple articles I had nicely optimized for Google. Needless to say that income from that domain has dropped to nearly nothing…

Once the flow of fresh content stops – Search Engines begin to ignore your site!

That is a simple truth everyone well aware of. Which leads me to a point of the tale…

About 10 days ago my friend and JV partner Kim Standerline contacted me and asked if I would be interested to take a look at her new product Easy Blog Pro and possibly promote it and promised that it will generate MASSIVE amounts of quality content for my blog. I was a bit skeptical but decided to have a look and evaluate it, especially since I had a dormant domain. I have implemented the process on February 20 and you can see the Google Analytics results below…

Keep in mind that high point in traffic is only about 100+ visitors but I pretty much didn’t do ANYTHING to promote it outside of using WordPress ping! As I have discovered some of the authors Stumbled their own articles on my new blog and helped me to get some new visitors, which I obviously greatly appreciate , after all its a win-win situation: they get more exposure, I get traffic which I can monetize!

I have quickly implemented Yahoo Text Ads and Amazon Context Ads (as described in this post) to see what I would get from that blog. I wish I could tell you I had staggering results but reality is much more prosaic – I have earned just over $7 since implementing it but! That Is Nearly Same Amount I had from that blog in last 2 Month and I didn’t do a thing! All content was published automatically and all visitors were free!

In my book it is nothing to be excited about but once again – it is free money so I take it!

Whats Is Easy Blogs Pro?

It is a total package: a complete set of plugins for WordPress they recommend for using, video tutorials on installing and setting up blogs, several Niche targeted themes but most importantly 2 custom scripts.

Each script works with an established Article Distribution services to automatically receive newly submitted articles on a niche you get to choose and publish it on your blog with all formating applied. Script create all categories, new authors and fully integrated into WordPress system to give your blog an appearance of Multi Author blog. I have only tried the script that works with one of the services and amount of content is huge, so be careful to choose category that fits your niche best!

Each script comes with video tutorial describing entire process of install, setup and everything you need to get it rolling. And while one of the Article Distribution services have rather broad topic definitions, second allows you a very granular picks of exact topics you need to receive and even allows you to specify Not to publish articles right away but rather put them into Pending state so you can review it before they will appear on your blog. Which in my opinion makes it a great addition to many blogs that need content but want to ensure the quality of it before publishing.

Does It Have Minuses?

Absolutely! Unless you use directory that allows you complete control over published content (which I didn’t do on my blog used as example) you get a LOT of content. It keeps on bringing Search Engines over and over to your blog so make sure to watch the bandwidth. And perhaps second minus – don’t expect to build an authority blog using this method.

It will create content, it will get you visitors and it even will generate some income for you but it will not make you an Authority. But if replicated multiple times across multiple niches – you have a potential of generating quite a bit more then what I have shown for my YPN account. I was never into AdSense farming but a simple calculation shows:

• 1 blog $7 a week, 4 weeks – $28
• 2 blogs – $56, 3 blogs – $84
• … you get the idea

Being that it is a 100% legal method and Not Content Scraping as many other systems teach you I say it is worth a try! Since I haven’t done any promotion my results can be a lot lower than what an average can be. Since you don’t have to worry about writing content – you will have time to take care of link building, promotions and social marketing. And if you are ready to try it …
