In today’s post I want to discuss a very simple and logical step for any regularly updated blog – publish blog to Kindle and get the extra income and recognition you deserve. Kindle marketplace experiencing tremendous growth and people constantly search for relevant content and information they can access with their devices, which makes it only logical to offer quality content you create to this market.

But it does have a potential to generate you recurring income on a complete autopilot, once you complete the steps outlined in this guide.

How To Publish Your Blog To Kindle

Process is actually an extremely simple but it does require that you have a valid Amazon account or create one.

Step 1 – Signup for Kindle Blog Publishing or Sign In With Existing Account

Once you login into your Blog Publishing dashboard you will see a list of already published blogs, if any, and you should see a Link to Add Blog.

Step 2 – Click Add Blog Link to Begin Process

On next page you simply need to fill details that properly describe your blog content, provide a link to RSS feed, for WordPress blogs it would be http://yourdomain.com/feed, and fill all required fields.

I’m not going to go into all the details on what need to go into which filed, as Amazon provides very good explanations and I don’t see the need to duplicate efforts.

I do recommend creating a good screenshot of your blog, as visual presentation is important decision factor when people choose to subscribe to your blog or not.

Once you completed simply Save, Generate Blog Preview and then Publish Your Blog To Kindle.

This is it! Nothing else need to be done on your part, except going into your account details and specifying how you would like to get paid I personally prefer direct deposit to my checking account but you do have an option to receive checks.

How Much Can You Earn From Blog Kindle Publishing?

This one is hard to predict and obviously it will depend on your niche, number of people willing to pay $0.99 per month to access your blog and multitude of other factors but this is not the point here….

What is though – You Are already spending time to do research, create quality content and publish it on regular bases. There is a whole marketplace searching for that info and willing to pay – why not benefit from it?

You make the choices appropriate for your situation but I can tell you that since adding my blog a while back – I get direct deposits to my account on regular bases and recommend you do same!

Duplicate Content penalty is one of the most misunderstood and at same time one of the most abused topics in Internet marketing and blogging. It is being “sold” as a proven fact by many looking to sell some form of a “solution” to others, not willing to take time to check the claims…

But I KNOW You Are Smarter Than That!

Last Google algorithm update only added to this controversy and created a new frenzy around the topic. And while I’m not going to argue that UNIQUE content will outperform Private Label Rights articles I would like to invite you into a quick facts checking process.

Shall we see what is truth and what is fairy tales?

What Is Duplicate Content?

I have previously talked about duplicate content on this blog but lets recap what we actually know:

• Duplicate content can lead to pages being not properly indexed – Google has spoke on it and I recommend you read it
• Duplicate content generally refers to same content on your site being shown on multiple pages without indication to search bots which page contains the original. This one is common to improperly configured blogs where you full Post shown on front page, single page view, archive pages, tag pages, etc. Can be easily avoided by either using “more” tag as I do on this blog or showing excerpt through modifying theme files. Also implementation of “canonization” (rel=”canonical”) on your blog clearly identifies which page contains original. SEO plugins, such as “All In One SEO” or “Yoast WordPress SEO” will do it for you when properly configured.

But does it actually mean that using same content on different sites, such as what we use for Article Marketing will lead to Google Penalty or not being indexed?

Look At The Facts

Before you buy into any “duplicate content solutions” I recommend you re-read the Google explanation on what it perceives as duplicate content and actions they are willing to take.

I might be misreading something, or perhaps the fact that English is my second language but NOWHERE on that page did I find a statement that your site will suffer if you use Article Marketing to build links to YOUR site. PLR articles work quite nicely for that, even without spinning.

• Yes, it will help you if articles you use for marketing are each more unique than the others.
• Yes, Google does try hard to remove from index same content that exists on multiple sites.
• And No, they don’t always succeed in doing it.

In fact I want to share with you a short story of how same content published on multiple sites is indexed by big G and shown to people…

A few weeks ago I started getting Google Alerts on my name, that led to articles indexed by Google, all with same topic:

“A Bloggers Look at Alex Sysoef’s Expert WordPress Program”

I have watched this process of indexing and results are quite interesting, especially considering that latest algorithm change supposedly prevents this type of content being indexed. See for yourself how many sites got indexed with this article:

Keep in mind, that new sites are added to index every day and I still get alerts on it but close to 5k of sites with exactly same article already indexed by big G and they don’t seem to have any problem with it. Go ahead, verify it!

As big G say – it might not provide the best user experience by having same article presented from multiple sites but they don’t seem to mind indexing and presenting it to people who search.

Conclusion

Unique content is still a must have for any site striving to build an authority and I highly recommend you take action to prevent your content from being stolen by content scrapers.

Article Marketing still works and will continue to work because I don’t believe big G or any other SE can create an algorithm smart enough to filter it out completely.

Before you believe any claims that offers you a solution for a problem that DOESN’T actually exist – check your facts! Marketing on Internet is based on testing, it is based on tracking and KNOWING what works and what doesn’t!

AdSense publishing is such a lucrative business for many web masters. It is a business with a simple strategic approach; you make money as people click on the ads on your site. • Do not use auto-surf programs to get traffic or to increase your CTR.
• Update your site frequently and get rid of broken links. These are cases that can escalate with time.
• Google is against people who keep their ads in pop-ups, pop-downs, e-mail messages, etc.
• Do not make your ads invisible for any reason.
• Targeting high paying keywords with a lot of websites registered under your account can get you banned.
• Indulging in questionable traffic generation means, like spamming, etc, are serious offences.
• Finish your site first before applying for AdSense. Using sites with status as “under-construction” is of no use. You will get banned immediately.
• Though people might not consider this, but you are not supposed to publicize your Adsense earnings for any reason.
• Any Adsense publisher must be 18 years of age or above.

There have been a lot of talks and discussions in forums and social sites about people who got banned in adsense business without any visible cause. Google made it very clear that the adsense TOS can be changed or updataed any time without prior notice to publishers.

Hence any adsense publisher must form the habit of confronting these terms periodically, in order to stay updated and to stay away from the Adsense judgment ‘hammer’.

Autoblogging and recurring blog  income on autopilot go hand to hand, right? At least this is what you hear time and time again…

But is it really? Just how much are we willing to compromise with our principals in order to get an extra dollar?

Unfortunately in theses trying times many people become desperate and fall easy prey to promises of instant riches on complete autopilot that they are exposed to. Seeing popularity of the topic I see more and more marketers jumping on band wagon and providing “solutions”.

While there is some merit to the autoblogging approach, and I in fact use some strategies myself and recommend some to my subscribers, many of the offers I have seen are nothing more then Spam Blog Creation machines that steal other people’s content and it is presented to you as solution to your money problems!

And yes, you do get all the disclaimers that inappropriate usage is not recommended but we know that desperate people willing to go to desperate measures and if a method with abuse option is available – IT WILL BE ABUSED!

Perhaps this is just my personal rant that will be ignored and fall into archives unnoticed but I still have to speak my piece as my blog quite often becomes a target to those who implement methods they were taught and in reality nothing more then theft!

And while I will not be mentioning any specific products I just want to describe pattern of promises that should help you identify them and hopefully stay away from or at least use their strategies with application of common sense:

• “this software pulls articles off the web immediately in any niche you choose, takes just a second.” – My translation: This software helps you create Spam Blogs quickly by scraping other people’s blogs and stealing their content.
• “build massive number of inbound links on autopilot” - My Translation: Pingback spam machine and one of the perfect examples described on Andy Beard’s blog.

And yes – many of the strategies described in these types of products do work, when implemented consistently and in mass. But is it worth it for you? We all could use an extra dollar or two but are you willing to become part of content theft glorified and justified by explanation “others do it”?

Good Part Is That You Still Can Create Autoblogs!

Even by using some of the advise you might get from the products that I personally question – just follow simple rules and avoid contributing to this spam blog trend..

Ask yourself these questions and if you answer “no” or “don’t know” – don’t implement that specific strategy:

1. Do you have permission to re-publish content from chosen source? Chances are – someone created it and might not be happy if you duplicate it on your own site. Intellectual properly is still a properly and taking and using it without permission is theft. Plain and Simple.
2. Quality and Quantity – if using one of the plugins that enables you to automatically add links to other RELEVANT blog posts and send pingback – when should you stop? Use moderation and don’t just fill pages with links in hopes to get some of those pingbacks to link back to you!
3. Would you do it offline? If you had to implement a method and it would require face to face interaction with people affected/impacted by it – would you do it?

Every tool has its merits but I personally have a deep disdain for spam blogs and content scrapers! So even if you choose to buy one of those products – please apply some common sense – it might not be sexy but in the long run will make you happier!

I guess something like this was just a matter of time and something we can expect others to implement, UNLESS it is stopped by making it public knowledge:

City Of Philadelphia Demands $300 Tax From Each Blogger

…just for the privilege to write! If this is not a direct assault on Freedom Of Speech – I don’t know what is! Yes, granted they didn’t tell bloggers to stop writing but knowing the statistics on income average bloggers generates – $300 tax a year in addition to all other taxes imposed on bloggers will effectively silence them!

Consider this…

According to 2009 State Of Blogosphere…

72% of respondents are classified as Hobbyists, meaning that they report no income related to blogging.

That means 3/4 of the bloggers from Philadelphia use blogs as a hobby, personal journal where they share their opinion! Opinion that City Of Philadelphia obviously doesn’t want to be heard!

But it gets even worse – because according to the stats provided by Technorati‘s report – ONLY 17% of the bloggers who do it professionally derive their primary income from the blogs!

That is 17% of the 28% of the total number of people taking part in survey!

I know many bloggers who struggle and those who succeed and I can tell first hand that paying $300 plus all additional draconian taxes that city have chosen to impose of them will kill the very Freedom Of Speech guaranteed to us by U.S. Constitution!

Not by prohibiting it but by Taxing It!

It appears our freedoms are up for grabs by unscrupulous politicians to cover their frivolous expenses!

If you plan on doing any article writing on the Internet and are not familiar with search engine optimization, you need to learn it’s basics as quickly as possible. Even if you are not writing to pay the bills, ignoring search engine optimization is like publishing a book to be distributed on the moon. No one will be able to find your content and your efforts will be in vain. Provided here are some tips to optimize any piece of content:

Write each article based on a keyword phrase (finding good dog collars, where to find Asian food in Seattle, etc.) Make sure that your phrase appears as close to the beginning and end as possible and in most paragraphs in your article. Good keyword density is around 2% (keyword phrase word count compared to total word count).

Don’t get too fancy. One little known consideration in search engine optimization is the text to code ratio. Most writing for the Internet uses html codes to determine how the content will look when it appears online. For example “<p>” will be used to mark the beginning of a paragraph. However, if an article begins to use too many special alterations like bold, italics or color, the html code can start to overwhelm the actual text from a search engine point of view. Try to keep your html codes simple.

SEO Beyond Your Content

Search engine optimization often goes far beyond the actual piece of content. In order to be sure that your content has the potential to become an income stream, you need to be sure that you actively promote it through back links. Although not the only method, back links are arguably one of the most valuable techniques when compared to the ease of their creation and relative cost. You can promote your content by finding related web sites or blogs and asking if they would either be open to exchanging links or accepting a free guest post in exchange for a link to your content or web site.

With a few exceptions, turning content into profit is not an easy task. You will need a great deal of patience. It would be nice if, once you were done drafting the actual content, your job was done. However, never lose hope. You know that your service or information is valuable. With hard work, so will your readers. Learning how to turn your content into an income stream is an ongoing process. But fear not, your hard work will likely pay off in the end earning you the holy grail phrase of Internet marketing – passive income.

Would you like to get paid blogging about something that you love? For some reason lately if someone talks about the subject of getting paid blogging, they automatically assume that you have to sell out and write reviews for some ad networks…

While it can be done that way – in my mind it is a bad way to do it!

Granted you can get paid upfront for every post you write but the beauty of the blogs lies in opposite direction from that model! People flock to the blogs for several reasons, one of which in my opinion is unbiased information about the topic they are interested in! People look for information from trusted sources, from real people just like them!

Your goal as a blogger is to become that trusted source and deliver on expectation!

You Can Get Paid Blogging About Your Hobby!

I think this is one of the simplest and most effective ways to make money blogging, as it contains several of the crucial elements to ensure you blog success:

• Passion – majority of the blogs fail due to a lack of unique, quality information that continues to flow to it. Creating content requires work, requires research and no matter how carefully you have done Niche research and identified profitability of the subject – your blog will eventually die if you stop providing content. Passion can fuel the creative streak in you even if you write about most trivial subject!
  

• Products Or Services To Sell – I don’t think I have seen an area of human interest that has a consumer demand and doesn’t have companies providing a products or services. Demand always creates an offer, unless you live in a country that preaches socialism. And since you are passionate about the topic – more then likely you are already using or planning to use some of the products or services offered. Find an affiliate program for the merchants, contact them directly if needed and ask if they will be interested to pay you for referrals and then write honest reviews and include affiliate links to products or services. Remember – people are looking for honest opinions of other people who already used the product or service! You don’t even have to sell them on it! Simply give your personal opinion and eventually you will see the flow of income from those reviews. It just works, as long as you don’t write ONLY negative reviews.

• Readily available audience – if you are passionate about some activity, more then likely there are hundreds of people (even in worst case scenario) who are interested in same! Obviously the larger this group – the more chances you have to earn when blogging to make money. All you need to do is locate people who are passionate about your topic, your hobby and send them back to your blog. Forums are one of the most obvious choices, simply do a Google search on your “keyword + forum” and you will be surprised how many might pop-up! Provide answers, information and become active part of community while giving links to information on your blog or simply use signature marketing method. Social Networks are another great place to find your audience: Facebook, Twitter, MySpace – all are great candidates. Just do a search for your keywords – become member of the groups and once again – provide answers and occasional reference to your blog to get the immediate flow of interested traffic.

There are many ways to get the targeted traffic to your blog and this post is not about it! It is about critical ingredients required for successful and sustainable blog income. Ingredients are very simple:

1. Quality, unique content
2. Monetization build into your blog
3. Targeted traffic to your blog

That is it! Those are the basics but to get them right and actually get paid blogging – it is a lot simpler if you do it about a topic you are passionate about – Your Hobby!

Obviously that the more popular your hobby is – more opportunities you have, but even a smallest and most unusual (as long as its legal) hobby can be profitable!

It is your passion and your opinion that will fuel the quality content and ability to become obvious expert in the area to build trust.

And once you have the trust – it is VERY easy to sell products and services you personally like and use to people with similar interests! Make Your Opinion Matter if you want to do blogging to make money!

Niche Research Is The Key To Success

Niche research must be completed before you even register your first domain! Like it or not but your success or failure begins with this step.

You simply have to find topic you will be able to write about and separate yourself from anyone else, create your unique voice and your own version of the truth. Blogs are read not only for the content they provide but also for the opinion shared within that content! I find myself continually reading a few blogs, whose author I can personally identify with and share many of same ideas.

Best Topics To Choose From:

• Your professional experience and knowledge that you feel passionate enough about and willing to create ongoing quality content
• Your life gained knowledge and experience that you love to share, much like I do on this blog
• Your hobby – if you feel strongly about it I bet there are hundreds of others who feel the same way about your topic of conversation
• Your unexplored interests. This could be any topic you always wanted to pursue and just never had a chance but willing to spend time to investigate, research and write about. And no – make money online is not a good topic, even if you are passionate about it! Remember – your goal is to create an authority blog and this specific topic has some heavy weights you simply will not be able to compete with!

I have found that best topic becomes one that you feel passionate about to write and that will continue to draw people, has enough demand for information and also has products you can sell as affiliate.

Be aware to disclose when you do affiliate marketing if you are in US as it looks like big brother pushing FTC to control blogospere and can have very negative impact on you for failure to do so.

Blog And Email Marketing Integration

I simply cannot stress enough importance of the blog and email marketing integration. I know many have a bad taste from unscrupulous email blast campaigns and don’t want to have anything to do with email marketing.

This is where you are making huge mistake! If you do it properly – you can truly separate yourself from your competitors by simply providing a convenience to your visitors and at same time benefit from a trust you can now build over time through email autoresponder sequence!

I personally consider that Blog Broadcast option provided by aweber was one of the Biggest Impacts on making my own blog profitable – FAST and I describe the process you can use to implement it on your own blog in my post Want To Make More Money Blogging? Broadcast Your Blog!

Email marketing works seamlessly when integrated into your blogging efforts and enables you to benefit from best of both worlds:

• Blog can be used for building a subscribers base, or community as I like to call it, and help you establish trust by delivering content people want and DIRECTLY requested from you
• eMail marketing can be used to deliver more traffic back to your blog each time you use blog broadcasting or when you want to announce an article you find beneficial to your readers.
• Affiliate Marketing can be used in both separately or combined – you chose the method but I can tell you from first hand experience – it is extremely effective. In fact when I talk to many of my IM partners, people find it hard to believe that I get 20-40% open rate on my emails when industry average is 3-5% and I believe it is due to the value I do my best to provide to people choosing to read my emails. I generally only promote something I tried, tested or found beneficial for myself (yes, there are some rare exceptions when I act based on previous reputation of the product creator but those are very rare)

Delivering value to your community via blog and via email should be your first and foremost goal and I guarantee you will see results! In fact for me investment into aweber begun to pay of on my second month and at that time my email list was below 1000.

Content Creation

Content is what brings people back to your blog and helps you to be found through search engines. It is the very core that defines your blog and it should be what you concentrate on the most!

I don’t consider myself an authority on how to create content and personally concentrate on delivering information that I know (based on stats and feedback) my readers find most useful and also deliver it in a way that optimized for Search Engines and Social Networks.

While the 2 have quite different need – they can be combined and used on same post and really boost the benefits of each other. Being able to make your post viral on social networks has huge implications on your traffic and as result your earning potential. Here are some article to help you with each:

SEO For Your Blog

• White Hat SEO Video Lecture By Matt Cutts – an older post that contains 2 video presentations by Matt Cutts of the Google and has all the info you need on blog SEO that is still quite relevant
• Why “More” Is Better? a tip from yours truly that helps me and hopefully will help you
• And of course nothing can beat the amount of information shared in Stomping The Search Engines 2 , I recommend that you get it to learn the aspects of SEO for your business.

Viral Content Creation

I’m not very good at this aspect (I blame my lack of proper education in English ) so instead I want to share blogs I personally read to get inspirations and ideas, as well as tutorials on that part:

• Maki at Dosh Dosh is one of the best in my opinion when it comes to creating viral blog content and his posts are extremely educational – Internet Marketing and Making Money Online.
• Michele Fortin at Copywriting and Marketing Tips is best of the both worlds – blogging and Internet Marketing and one resource I recommend you read, better yet – he has great content packed eZine, subscribe using options he provides.
• Brian Clark from Copywriting Tips for Online Marketing Success is another resource I want to mention that will give you answers to many questions you didn’t know you had.

I could list a few more people here I personally read but those 3 guys will deliver all you need and some of the highest recommended blogs on my list. And now that you have learned how to create blog posts optimized for Search Engines and Viral Marketing – we need to dive into really important aspect…

Traffic Generation

Traffic is a lifeblood of your blog and if you are just starting – you will discover that majority of your time will be spent on multiple traffic generation strategies and stats checking (just kidding! , hopefully that blogging disease will pass you by).

There are multiple way to get traffic to your blog and some more effective then others, so instead of wasting you time on reciting them all – I will provide you with what seem to work best for my blog:

1. SEO of your blog and each of your blog posts! Google for me is one of the biggest sources of the traffic and I will not recommend to anyone ignoring SEO aspect and it will become easier as you learn more about basic steps. I have 36 articles to date on SEO that you can read, chose what you like!
2. Blog commenting – but not just on any blog,  read my method in details here and I guarantee it will work for you, it does for everyone else – CommentLuv Plus DoFollow Equal Unlimited Link Love
   
3. Link building to get authority status for my blog and since this topic is quite extensive – I simply point you to my One Way Link Building series of articles. And make no mistake, if you use even some of those starategies – you will see results!
   
4. Social Networking is the last method I will mention here and it includes Video Marketing, participation on Social Networks and multitude of other tasks that involve community based sites marketing. There are many things to be shared here and I have quite a bag of information you can find under Social networking
   

I don’t want to overload you with too much information here and you will discover, as you grow alone with your blog that some strategies work better for you than others – just stick to them, while being on lookout for new techniques and you will see results!

Blog Monetization

In my personal opinion this is one of the most overused and underutilized aspects on the blog and for a good reason. Our blogs have limited space on which we can place affiliate banners or Sponsor Ads and too many bloggers, in attempt to earn more from their blog, simply overload it with multiple and sometimes conflicting messages!

Your blog monetization should be directly derived from your blog design and goals you have determined for your blog. It can be just about anything you want, from sharing your message to the world to generating blog income via AdSense as I have discussed in post Google Text Ad Impact On Blog Earning, just be clear on what you are trying to accomplish and implement it!

And while your goals will change as you progress alone, as an example until recently Sponsor Ads were not really an options on my blog, you must retain main thing – Common Sense!

Any monetization model you implement should never overshadow main value you have to offer – Content!

This is what people come for to your blog and the moment you forget it – you will pay for it! Here are some article I have written on the subject:

A misconception exists that Google Text Ad, or as it is more known AdSense, is bad for you blog earning! I think we absolutely MUST clear this mistaken misconception especially for people who are just joining the ranks of bloggers.

Blame the economy or rising awareness of the tools available to people but blogging to make money is becoming increasingly popular and people are on constant look out for the information to help them increase the potential, maximize the opportunity and actually become that 5% of the bloggers who succeed of getting a bit of extra from their blogs.

And while I don’t implement Google AdSense on this blog – there is a good reason behind it and I want to explain in detail “the why” and “the how”!

Did Google Text Ad Lost Its Usefulness?

I’m seeing multiple bloggers post about removing the AdSense from their blogs all together due to multitude of factors. And while I don’t even use it on this blog I believe that Google Text Ads are one of the best and simplest ways to do at least couple things:

• Monetize your Niche Blog using set and forget option
• Evaluate profit potential of the Niche you picked

In fact my partner and I use AdSense extensively on Niche blogs as it helps us to see if the Niche we got into and did a quick research on actually has a potential to deliver. When you do it enough times you can actually see how some Niche’s deliver results that far superseding others and becomes a good indicator if we should spend time on developing that niche or simply let it run its course on autopilot!

And AdSense can deliver a nice chunk of change, at the very least it will always cover your hosting expenses, even if you only put marginal effort!

You can maximize the blog earning potential via AdSense by implementing a few very small tweaks:

1. Minimize the number of ads but place them into locations that generate most clicks. Generally left top corner within content is superb location and top right corner of your blog (think sidebar) should get some attention. Less Ads Shown with same number of Clicks – higher CTR and as such higher earnings for you!
2. Blend your ads into content. Use same colors as your blog theme uses for text, url, etc. I know everyone tells you it needs to be done but that is because it works! Plain and simple.
3. Implement Section targeting. While there are plugins available for you to implement section targeting in WordPress – one of the simplest ways to do it is by inserting code into your theme files.

Google Section Ad Targeting allows you to tell Google Which Content should be evaluated for relevancy of the ads. This allows you to pull MOST relevant ads that greatly increase your Click Through Rate (CTR) and as such your earning.

Simply edit following files of your theme: single.php, index.php, page.php, archive.php. Your theme might have more template files responcible for controlling content but I take into account most common.

Insert section targeting before and after PHP code responcible for showing content:

<?php the_content(); ?>

So it looks like this:

<!-- google_ad_section_start --> 
<?php the_content(); ?> 
<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Code above implies just the most common theme and while yours might be slightly different – just find the code responcible for displaying content and wrap it into Google Ad Section tags.

Should AdSense Be Part Of Every Blog Earning Strategy?

Absolutely Not!

In fact I don’t even use it on this blog and I do it quite intentionally. I work hard on creating content that will pull readers in and help people. I work hard on getting new visitors and inviting my previous readers to revisit my blog and I’m not willing to send my visitors away in exchange for a few cents that Google will provide me for text ad click!

Plain and Simple – My Goal Doesn’t Include AdSense Monetization

Blog, just like any other site should be designed to help you accomplish your own MOST DESIRABLE ACTION, guide your visitors gently toward that action by placing it into relevant location and even asking for it.

But first you have to decide what your goals are. I have covered the idea in 2 blogging webinars you can watch and will not repeat myself.

And yes, earning via AdSense can be one of the goals and should be implemented then!
